Extending a 6bay Unraid via USB?
Good to know, so it would be better to use a drive connected via USB as their own standalone volumes, right? Can they still be proptected via the parity disk?

Extending a 6bay Unraid via USB?
I am thinking of installing Unraid on a TerraMaster F6-424 Max. However I want to create a BTRFS array with more than 6 spinning disks. Can I connect USB drives (via the USB3.2 ports) and integrate them in my array?

Recommended complete machines with 8-10 bays?
What are recommended complete machines with 8-10 disk bays I can put Unraid on? Any manufacturer to recommend? (For 6 bays I found the Terramaster F6-424 Max, but it is only 6 bays... Plus: Is Terramaser any good?)

What hardware to look for to get a good server to run local AIs under Unraid?
I am thinking of joining the Unraid ship! Apart from using it for storage I would love to run local AI models like gemma3:4b (3.3GB) or even qwen:14b (8.2GB) on it (and provide them to my local network). What hardware (motherboard & GPU or even a complete build) should I look for to get reasonable response times? (A t the moment I use gemma3 on my M2 Mac. For longer prompts it can take minutes to get a response. That is too long.) Many thanks for pointers!

What Linux distro is Unraid based on?
Interesting. Thanks! Is Unraid's development "in parallel " with Slackware (so does it for example use the internals of the current Slackware version 15, or is Untaid rather a fork at an earlier state and now independent of Slackware? Is there anywhere some documentation/blog posts about this part of the history?

What Linux distro is Unraid based on?
Hi Unraiders! I am thinking of getting a TerraMasster NAS and setting it up with Unraid. Now, I am interested on what Linux distro is Unraid based. Is it Redhat-base (with the `dnf` package manager) or Debian-based ((with the `apt` package manager) or Arch or Gentoo? Thanks for any insights!

Unraid hardware vendors preferably in Australia
I'm new here and I'm thinking of building a small Unraid server to backup my 35TB Synology NAS (and maybe in the long run I'll move both to Unraid). I am looking for hardware vendors preferably here in Australia who sell pre-built machines with: * Simple/cheap (don't want to run containers on it, use the Synology for this) * Capacity for ca. 40TB of disks, maybe 5-6 bays? * Smallish physical footprint * Unraid does not need to be preinstalled, but would be good of course. 🙂 Any suggestions?
