Your license key file is corrupted or missing. The key file should be located in the /config directory on your USB Flash boot device.
I'm getting this error again.. and now, I'm basically out of 'ideal thumb drives' for unraid Your license key file is corrupted or missing. The key file should be located in the /config directory on your USB Flash boot device. If you do not have a backup copy of your license key file you may attempt to recover your key.If this was an expired Trial installation, you may purchase a license key. I DID run checkdisk on the thumb about 2 hours ago. The checkdisk was necessary. I have copies of the 'old thumb' both BEFORE and AFTER running checkdisk. I also need to use a new thumb, I guess. I see that I am SIX versions behind. I guess about a week ago, I logged in and the only option was 'upgrade automatically upon next reboot'. I don't WANT to run an upgrade right now.. but I need to find out why this thumb drive keeps corrupting. I've gone through about 4+ thumb drives in the last 16 months. they 'keep corrupting'. I did try the 'recover key' option, but it was hanging. I tried it twice. I'll go turn off my ublock origin (for sure) and try one more time Nevermind, I'm in chrome and I don't have ublock here. Yeah, so it tries to 'recover the key' and it redirects to THIS url (just the first part) MY_UNRAID_IPv4/redirect?data=U2FsdGVkX18m2ZoiqvbKrgxX6l229hNQQ I tried to recover 3 times now. I guess I need to use a new thumb drive. I don't have any good candidates for this right now, Most of my remaining thumb drives are USB 3.0 OR more than 32gb. I have about a dozen 'spare thumb drives' mostly USB 3.0 AND larger than 32gb Did the part about 'Microsoft increasing the size limits' for Fat32 have any effect on this? I'm just happy that Checkdisk APPEARED to work. It allowed me to boot and the parity check ran for about 30-40 minutes before I came back into this tab, and I got the error (I tried to copy the OG error here) PS - upon earlier power-on about 2.5 hours ago, it failed, and I could share the URL from THAT conversation. I was talking to chatgpt. I tried to make a backup at the cli of my boot directory, but bash couldnt find the files I was trying to backup NOW I just get a white-screen, and it doesn't give me the option to 'recover key' any longer :(

Your flash drive is corrupted or offline. Post your diagnostics in the forum for help.
no, I don't have a current flash backup. I just set this up again 2-3 days ago. I haven't rebooted since then.

technically, on the GUI, I can access Apps and Plugins. Apps still gives me the similiar error. Now, I can browse to plugins, and it's appearing to give me the option to install a plugin. Are there any plugins I can run to get diagnostics working?

and I tried this method.. but it didn't work. The machine is technically still running plex. I don't feel like turning it off because then I won't be able to watch my show. I have persistent issues rebooting, I just have a KVM that doesn't work all the time. Long Story. I've been using KVMs for 25 years, and I don't know what the issue is. It's just a matter of timing. Upon reboot, it appears to hang and then NOT respond to keyboard commands and it hangs after the first two boot files /bzimage1 /bzimage2 I can't remember the name of the files. First: Try the built-in diagnostics URL Even if the GUI is acting weird, Unraid exposes diagnostics directly. From another machine open: http://UNRAID_IP/webGui/scripts/diagnostics.phpExample: http://192.168.3.25/webGui/scripts/diagnostics.phpIf the system can still access /boot, it will immediately download: diagnostics-YYYYMMDD-HHMM.zip

Also, I wanted to explain further - I think I'm still on 7.1.4 (June 2025?) I've tried upgrading twice now. Every time I reboot, the machine hangs and the thumb drive corrupts. am I supposed to upgrade to 7.1.5 and then 7.1.6 and then... ETC? I'm especially interested in getting this fixed in the near future. My license is expiring 3/31 I think. I will be able to pay for this on 4/4/2026.

I've had 2+ thumb drives go corrupt in the last 12 months. I just went through this (for the 2nd time) like 2-3 days ago. I was transferring files via FTP as well as watching movies on plex, and all of a sudden I started having problems logging in the web GUI. I also cannot connect via FTP. I haven't tried via SSH Finally, in the Web GUI I have THIS message: Your flash drive is corrupted or offline. Post your diagnostics in the forum for help. I can't get diagnostics just yet. I don't understand why I'm being told to 'ask this in the forum'. Since I've rebuilt my thumb drive twice in the last year.. I know I'll need to contact them for a new serial number / guid, etc. I assume I should do that? ALSO, I don't understand what types of Thumb Drives I should be using. I prefer the low-profile disk. Can I REUSE my existing drive (the one that just corrupted) I only have SOOOO MANY short-thumb drives that are 32gb or smaller.

The nginx server constantly shuts down
are you installing nginx on the unraid host? Or on a Container? lol I don't EVER make config changes on the host, not once not ever.

No PayPal option to buy Unraid?
I know that I'm a paypal user also. I do use a Paypal Debit sometimes for stuff like this. But I'd greatly prefer paypal native than a Debit Card.

Two Problems - License Not Found and 'corrupted USB stick'
Yes. I have another copy. But this is paid software, I need to be able to rely on it. I'll go hit the 'Contact Support' button I guess. I don't understand your words, sorry. My first attempt, I couldn't figure out how to use single-parity. I can't afford to spend HALF of my storage budget on Parity. It took me forever to figure out how to do this properly. I hit TOOLS > DIAGNOSTICS and it's giving me a 404 error. I just tried it twice via TOOLS > DIAGNOSTICS I even dialed in via putty and tried to do it at the CLI. nothing but errors

Two Problems - License Not Found and 'corrupted USB stick'
I've made the plunge and tried to embrace Unraid. Things aren't going really well. - Started Trial on USBDisk1 - Trial Expired - Trial Extended - Formatted, Reinstalled to the SAME USBDisk1 (I'm quite sure on that part). During this process, I removed a 1tb Cache because it's a Cheap Temu Card, and it only has 1 port. A 1tb disk isn't big enough for me to utilize with Unraid (effectively, I get punished for having many small disks. I just don't think that a cache disk should count as a 'storage device'. ) I did a complete destruction of my Data - At this point, I was still in my trial extension - License Purchased, I thought that would apply it, but it didn't - When I realized the license wasn't working, I tried to apply the Activation Code (not a file, just the code) - COPIED (not moved) my data from WS2 and WS3 to Unraid3. I still have the data - Trial Expired - I tried to apply the license 2-3 times additionallly I don't know how things are supposed to work I just need to demonstrate that Unraid is STABLE enough to DELETE the data I copied from 4-6 directories on WS2+WS3. At this point, I've had 2 RELATIVELY major problems with unraid, and I don't trust it enough to move forward. How can I REALLY determine 'if my license has ACTUALLY been applied' If my license HAS been applied, then can't I call Unraid for Tech Support?
