  1. Ok maybe I should have looked into it a bit more, I only read 3 threads about it but then on the fourth I found this: and it worked perfect
  2. I have a system with all 2TB drives running 6 beta 10. One of my drives started throwing errors and I am going to replace it. I just got a 4tb drive and decided to do the swap-disable way. I swapped out the parity with the new drive, and the broken drive with the parity. The server booted up fine and actually had pre-selected the right divers for the right spots (4tb in the parity and the old parity in the old broken slot) but both drives have a red dot that says WRONG and the server says "Too many wrong and/or missing disks!" Did I do something wrong? Is there a way to force the system to do a swap-disable? I am basing my actions off of this wiki: http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php?title=UnRAID_Manual#Replace_a_failed_disk
  3. It is is an ok price if you are looking for a good 4TB drive, it is still less $/GB than the 5tb and 6tb drives, so if $s are your limit yes it is a good deal, if slots are your limit then no not really
  4. lol well I guess it is a bit off, price drop went active and how it is $155, so $10 off, not as good as I thought it would be
  5. The deal dosent kick in for another 15 min or so so I am not sure the deal but right now it is at $165 and is going to go lower which will be a great deal. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EHBERSE/ref=gb1h_img_c-2_7042_866d6db0?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0VA00G9FM1HVMZHYXN2X&pf_rd_i=5550342011&pf_rd_p=1990147042
  6. How would I do this through the web app, I am not sure how to use it? Thank you so much
  7. I havent done this but I think what you should have done is a "rebuild" not a sync, but your data should still be on the 3TB drive you removed so you should be able to put that back in and do a sync then do the swap and do a rebuild.
  8. Basically you will loose the storage of your largest drive. if you have a 4tb HD and a 2TB HD you will only have 2TB, but every hard drive you add after that is added to your pool, so if you add 2 more 2TB drives you are up to 6TB of storage.
  9. The instructions are in here: http://download.lime-technology.com/dnld/beta/unRAIDServer-5.0.1-rc1-i386.txt So what I did on my windows machine was type Run in my search bar from the start button, then connect to the server "\\tower", then opened my flash drive and draged over 'bzimage', 'bzroot', and 'readme.txt' from the release zip file. Then rebooted.

  11. I was reading Engadget and saw that WD just came out with a new line WD Red, these are focused for NAS and home server use. I think this would be perfect. I need a new 2tb should I go ahead and buy this or stick with the green till it has been tested out more. Here are some links http://www.engadget.com/2012/07/10/wd-red-hard-drive-official-launch-nas-soho-storage/ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236343
  12. I think this would work but have very little idea on how to set it up. I currently have 2 servers, currently synced up, I am moving one off site soon and would like to be able to rsync it if possible. could anyone help me with how to set up a secure tunnel?
  13. lol, thats fine I actually had that window open because I am preclearing 5 disks right now as well

  15. I am running preclear on 5 hard drives, they are all the same, and all plugged into sata ports on the motherboard. 4 of them are sda-sdd but the fifth one is hda and when running the preclear is going about half the speed. Does anyone know why?
  16. I keep getting: Required dependency, openssl-0.9.8n-i486-1.txz, has not been installed. Please install it before installing SABnzbd. You can install the package Here It is installed and I dont know what to do Ok I fixed that by just editing out the check for openssl, one more note though, the top of SAB says: ? Your UNRAR version is not recommended, get it from http://www.rarlab.com/rar_add.htm is this normal?
  17. Oh I dont think it will work with 9.X I think you should think about upgrading to 10.1 it is quite stable, but dont do it simply for this script. I will see if I can find or work with a different (non XBMC) script since you really dont need it to run from XBMC do you?
  18. I didnt work because of a simple error with case sensitivity, I have fixed it try loading my zip file, I just ran it on a Linux system and it ran fine
  19. If you are looking for something cheap, look at jailbreaking the ATV2 and installing XBMC. It works ok, is limited to 720 output, and GUI is a bit slow, but is only $99, still has ATV capabilities of communicating with itunes and idevices, and is very small and low power.
  20. I have found and updated a script that will do some of what you ask, it will go into your cache and copy all your fan arts into two folders (TV and Movies) inside a set folder. But it will not rename them so you will have 24b86.tbn which you wont be able to tell what it is untill you open it but if you are using this only as a folder for your screen saver to use it wont really mater what it is named. Here is the forum post talking about it: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?t=56153 Though the current version has a problem that I have fixed so here is my version. I have tried it and it works pretty well, will keep on working on the renaming problem. script.video-fanart-splitter-0.2.0.zip
  21. Why dont you want to go the HTPC route? Just want to get a feel for what you are looking for. If you do change your mind I would highly recommend xbmc, you can buy pre-made system from places like http://www.queegtech.com/Media-Players_c_8.html or you can jailbreak and install it on a ATV2 which is a cheaper but more limited and a less bug free option. With no internet access getting the meta data for your videos may be a pain but as Kizer said Ember Media Manager is great and can be used where internet is available then the data can be transfered at the house.
  22. I am sorry if this has been brought up before. I tried a search, I think I need to use rsync, but was unable to find what I needed. I have a Unraid system that I currently have all my data on. I am building one for my sister, when it is done it will be moved to a different state. What I am looking for is a way to keep one or two shares in sync with both servers. So what I am thinking is after building her server copying over the user share "Pictures" and "Family Videos" and then shipping it off to her. Then every month (or what ever interval I need) plugging in a external drive (either hard drive or thumb drive) into my server would copy all data that has been added since last sync, I then mail it to her, she plugs it in and it copies all data to her server, then replaces it with the new data on hers and she mails it back to me completing the loop. If it is easier the data from her server doesn't need to be added, mine is the main server that will get new information. Is this possible?
  23. Ya definitely runs XBMC after jailbroken, though this really isnt great of a deal, they are $99 normally so if there is any shipping charges it makes since to just pick one up at a apple store near you.
  24. Man your poppin these out faster than I can try them. Thanks for all the hard work
  25. ok, I know it was dumb but I decided to try reformatting it by just adding it to the array. I added it, re formatted it, the removed it, (I forgot that I would have to rebuild parity after but whatever) then I tried the script and it is working. I am still not sure what happened but it is working now, thank you for all your work Joe.
