  1. Have Aeon skin with yamj working on pc.  It took me a few starts to get cover art and links to work.  I tried to have my kid's dvds that are actually tv episodes displayed as tv episodes but that made no sense after I realized it.  Now all is working nicely.  I am still copying jukebox folder and index file over to share on unRAID after each addition of a movie and want to move from this.  I'm ready to make the switch to it running on my unRAID.  Link to original file needed is dead (on Lime-Technology site).  I've seen a link to another site (not the mediafire site) but can't find it.  Anyone know the URL?

  2. Ran YAMJ on my laptop.  Had a few hiccups but now it's working.  Wow, I wished I'd have done this so much sooner.  I'm cleaning up my filenames so I don't have to edit the index file - I'd rather it gets it right on its own.  I think I'll move on to a skin after this.  I've tried a file manager (don't have the name with me here at work) but didn't get my changes to 'stick'.  I'm trying to remove the small language banners at the top corner of the cover art and running into problems.  My 'change this code line to...' skills are lacking but I'll keep trying.  Once I'm done cleaning up a few more errors (cover art / movie listings that I don't have so I have to search that out / TV series (mostly my kid's shows) need to be turned into series / and dead links where you hit play and nothing happens) I'll move forward.

So glad I'm doing this but at first was daunting.  I wished there was a better one place sticky guide for director / filename structure.  I did eventually find the google code wiki pages which helped immensely.

  3. I have the A-200 Popcorn hour.

When you say PC - I hope you mean unRaid.  My unRaid was build 09/2010:

    Supermicro MBD-X7SBE LGA 775 chipset

    2 GB RAM

    Intel Celeron 430

Is having YAMJ on the NAS or on the laptop I upload my iso's to the best option?  Reading more about this it seems when I upload my iso's (through a laptop connected to the network) I could simply update YAMJ on my laptop at the same time and it would create a updated file on the unraid that Popcorn hour would access when starting up.  Is this correct?  So, YAMJ on the NAS or created from the laptop is a decision I have to make.  Best option?

The link on Lime Tech's site to YAMJ no longer functions - can I download directly from YAMJ website?

I'll start this entire process tomorrow.  Glad to know someone is out there!

  4. I've had my unRaid for a couple of years.  About 750 movies on the unRaid and viewed via Popcorn Hour.  Really tired of the tree directory navigation and want to give this a go.  My tech / code knowledge is low on the scale of what I read on these forums.  I did get this far on my own though!

Wish me luck.  I hope there's someone out there still reading this thread because I know I'm going to hit a few walls!

One quick question - how long does the initial scanning of about 750 movies take?

  5. I had a Cisco E4200 router setup for a year.  The thing froze while updating the firmware three days after the warranty ran out and tech support wanted to charge me to TRY and fix it but they weren't sure they could bring it back online.  So I decided to put my money toward a Netgear WNDR4500.

My Cisco would find my unraid Tower almost instantly in Windows 7 Explorer when I would access it.  With the new Netgear WNDR4500 it would take 15 to 30 seconds for the first few months, and now won't find it at all.  I can find it via web access typing in 'tower'.

The only thing that has changed is the router.  What, in the router settings must change to be able to see it once again?  Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Thanks,

    Rick

  6. I pulled the Samsung drive that is giving me problems and replaced it with a Western Digital.  It took most of the day to re-build.  I just tested it and WOW!  It's working beautifully, now.  No stuttering.  I thought I'd have to delete the files written over the weeks to that drive (400 Gigs) and rewrite them from my original files.  I figured the files were written to that drive corruptly.  Not the case.  I guess it got written correctly but had troubles reading the info back.  Therefore the rebuilt files are working!

I'm back up and running and QUITE IMPRESSED!

I brought the Samsung drive to work and dropped it into an external drive dock.  No response.  This is actually my first drive to fail me.  I guess I have been lucky over the years.

  7. I've just found that my unRaid is stuttering and isn't playing iso files on one of my drives.  It is a Samsung.  I'm thinking of pulling out of the array and going with more of the Western Digital drives that are working flawlessly.

Will I be able to pull the drive out and replace it with a new drive, format it and then let it move the data from parity?  I have a second backup so I could also delete what's on that drive, switch out the drive and then copy my backup media to it.

    Suggestions?

  8. I've gone through this very same thing step by step.  I've gotten to the point where I no longer get the 'no operating system found' and have my flash drive as the #1 boot priority (actually it's the only thing now listed).  Now when I boot the machine the fans fly and nothing shows on screen.  I can't get to the screen where I have a menu to choose between unRAID or memtst.  I have a blank screen.  Any thoughts on this?

My hard drives all show, btw in the BIOS.

By having:  All USB Key, All USB HDD AND USB HDD: Flirefly (the flash drive I am using) all listed in the boot order list (top list of the one shown in first post) I have been able to get to the unRAID or memtst choices.

I am now running the memtst.

I've added this in case anyone else gets stuck at this particular step.  This isn't easy, is frustrating, but fun.  I've only build one computer from scratch before.  I have no Linux experience.  One step at a time, I guess!
