  1. So I've recently set up a new server for UNRAID that has 4 4TB Seagate IronWolfs & a 500GB WD M.2 NVMe SSD. I'm using the latest version of UNRAID, 6.9.2 & trying to add the M.2 drive as a cache drive, however I'm not seeing any options anywhere on the page where you add drives/set up pools to add a cache drive. I thought it was supposed to be the last option in the drives list but it's nowhere on the page. Thanks
  2. I just downloaded this plug-in. Looks great, except that I can't use it because it won't let me un-check Dry Run, so can't move any files. I'm using FireFox, latest version. Tried MS Edge, same issue. Will try Google Chrome next . . . Same issue in Chrome. Am I missing something????
  3. I'm trying to get faster writes to my unRAID system too, but I don't have the Tunable (md_write_method): option. As fas as Tunables, all I have is: Tunable (poll_attributes): 1800 Tunable (md_num_stripes):1280 Tunable (md_sync_window):384
  4. Thanks RobJ, Actually, it's working now - seeing all 4 HDDs. Guess it was a bad flash, though it seemed to go OK doing it on one of my newer PCs in EFI mode. I pulled out my old workhorse from my closet - and Athlon II X4 640 based PC, mobo with PCIE 2.0 x16 slot & was able to flash using the instructions here: http://www.vladan.fr/flash-dell-perc-h310-with-it-firmware/ Happy Camper
  5. OK - no go with the new cable. It looks like unRAID is recognizing the controller, but no drives still. I'm attaching the diagnostics log. Hopfully someone can look at it & let me know why unRAID isn't recognizing drives when they're connected to the H310? syslog.txt
  6. I bought a new cable off NewEgg yesterday, a Coboc brand, for $10, and should receive it tomorrow. I'll report back once I get it. also, mu unRAID server has an ASRock H110 based mobo, and my PC has a Gigabyte. Hope that won't be the issue.
  7. OK, after much difficultyI finally managed to flash the PERC H310 I recently bought on eVay to IT mode, but its not recognizing any of the 4 SATA DRIVES I connect to it. Firmware is P16 version, but I didn't flash a Bios since I wanted a faster boot time and thought the BIOS isn't needed if using the H310 in IT mode. The SFF8087-to-4SATA CABLE I bought off eBay also for $8 was advertised as a forward breakout cable and appears to be in good shape. Neither my unRAID server or my regular PC is recognizing any drives when connected to the card/cable. In my unRAID SERVER I can see it recognize the card during boot and also the drives I think, but drives are not found by the web GUI. In my PC, again, device manager can see the card with no issues, driver loaded automatically by Win 8.1 but no drives are seen. One of the metal brackets around the SAS connectors has come loose from one side but I can plug the cable into both connectors securely and Ive tried the cable in each connector. I'm suspecting the SFF8087 cable is bad unless I'm missing something else. I might go to my local Frys to try another SFF8087 cable, but I'm not looking forward to paying $35 for it. Any ideas?
  8. In case anyone is interested, I just bought a Dell PERC H310 from this ebay seller for $40 with Make Offer option (listed at $50) http://www.ebay.com/itm/191938256453?_trksid=p2055359.m2763.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  9. I was planning to cache writes to the array. I'm planning to start with either 4 or 6 4TB HDDs. Plex library is about 450 movies and TV shows also, not sure how many GB. Thanks for your help.
  10. I'm currently using a pair of AMD Athlon 5350 ITX systems, one is main fileserver running Open Media Vault, one is Win10 backup server/HTPC. I'm looking to consolidate into one Large unRAID 6 server. I'm looking for hardware recommendations, trying to keep this as low-cost as possible. Uses: Fileserver/1-3 containers (definitely Plex, maybe 2 or 3 other containers), No Virtual machines. What I need recommendations on: - Motherboard & CPU: Only looking at LGA 1151 mobos. I haven't decided on ITX or MicroATX, but I definitely don't want ATX. I'm trying to keep the build small, but expandable (eventually a max of 12 drives, maybe 16). > Things I want on the mobo: ECC RAM support 32GB max., IPMI, single-CPU, minimum 6 SATA 3 (more if possible), not opposed to more than 2 GB Ethernet ports but not a requirement, internal USB port for unRAID flash drive. > CPU - must run Plex perfectly, won't be transcoding more than one movie/TV show at a time. Can I get away with an i3? - At some point, I'll probably need to add a PCIE SATA controller, minimum 8-port - any recommendations? - Drives: I'll probably start with 6 4TB 2.5" SATA 3 drives, 5400rpm (good enough to run movies off of? I've only used 7200rpm drives up until now. - I'll be adding at least 1, maybe 2 SSD for a cache. Is 1 128GB large enough? - Recommend a good 16GB USB Flash drive supported by unRAID Thanks!
