  1. What should be the ideal temp for the WD red drives? I notice they are around 5-8 degrees cooler than the WD green, I am looking to install some more fans in my case, currently only have 2 fans for 8 drives.
  2. Just cleared 3 new drives, can someone take a look at the result for me? 3. Here is my current setting up: 1 X parity 3tb 3 X data 3tb 1 X data 2tb I am looking to add a 4tb data drive, a cache drive, replacing the parity drive with a 6tb, and convert the old parity to another data drive. In the process, I am looking to convert the file system to XFS. I am planning to take the parity drive offline, then format the new 4tb into xfs and just copy the files directly from one of the 3tb on to it, then reformat the 3tb to xfs and copy another drive on to it until all the drives are converted. I will then install the 6tb as parity and reformat the old parity for data. Would this be the best way to do the conversion? Thanks
  4. When I started using unraid, I didn't create any shares, and just copied the files into separate folders on to each drive manually as I started out with just 2 drives. Is there any easy way to start using shares now to sort out my files across multiple drives?
  5. CrashPlan lets you backup free between computers. You only have to pay to backup to CrashPlan Central (cloud backup). In my case, I backup unRAID shares to Crashplan Central, so, I needed to purchase a license. Even though I run a Windows client (or RDP through MATE CrashPlan-Desktop docker) only one license is required since I am only backing up unRAID to the cloud. The Windows or MATE client is just for management purposes. If I wanted to backup my Windows machine to CrashPlan Central, that would require another license. You can backup a Windows, Mac, or Linux computer to unRAID or an external drive without a CrashPlan license. You can also backup to a friend's computer or a friend to you without a license. Only cloud backup requires a license. See https://www.code42.com/store/. Awesome, I am just looking to backup up my unraid to the cloud, going to just purchase one license then. As far as the management software goes, as long as I do the initial setup through windows, does the computer have to remained on or will everything be done on unraid automatically?
  6. I am looking to setup crashplan for unraid, will I be able to use the one user service only or multiple since some setting have to be configure thru windows? Also, can everything be backup on unraid directly after setting up on docker? Thanks
  7. I was trying to transfer one big file during that period of time, but it was so slow that I cancelled it. I have been playing around with some settings on my pc end, and it seems that the problem only affects the speed copying from my pc to the unraid, copying from unraid to desktop was unaffected. For some reason, I could no longer map the unraid folder, and the only way to access it was from workgroup. I also tried teracopy, but for some reason, the speed was even slower than copying from windows explorer. I have attached a longer syslog of a transfer of a folder of multiple files (32.9 GB, 178 files, took around 3 hours) here if you could take a look for me, thanks. syslog.txt

  10. For the past few days, the transfer speed on my unRaid server suddenly went from 30-40 mb/sec to between 500kb to 2 mb/sec. I started seeing the change as soon as I purchased the plus license key and installed a cache drive. I tried playing with the settings on my linksys e4200, and unmounting the cache drive, but the speed remained the same. I also tried connecting my old NAS with the same cable and port, and did not experience the same problem I have with unRaid. Can someone take a look at my syslog and see what's going on? Thanks.
