  1. I'm running a Windows 10 Pro VM on UnRaid 6.7 0 RC5 and I'm experiencing occasional "demoic sound."  I'm passing thru my on-board sound card  (AMD Azalia (IntelHDA)) on my ASUS M5A97 R2.0 motherboard.  I've run the MS-Util utility recommended in Space Invader's video.  The demonic sound only occurs occasionally and I can usually correct it by opening and running sound the Windows sound configuration setup.  I'm also passing thru a video card (AMD Radeon HD 5000/6000) and a  Logitech mouse and keyboard  (unifying receiver.)  BTW, this issue existed in prior RCs and 6. stable release. Any thoughts?

  2. I'm running a Windows 10 VM with a wire mouse and keyboard.  i'm trying to replace it with a wireless Logitech combo wireless mouse keyboard.  There is one USB dongle for both wireless devices recognized by UNraid as a Logitech unifying receiver.  When I tried removing the wired mouse and keyboard from the VM (using the GUI) I get the error, missing USB device.  I can start the VM with both the wireless and wired mouse/keyboard attached.  Windows recognizes both.  Any advise as to how I should edit the XML file  so as to not get this error? Thanks.

SOLVED I edited the XML deleting reference to the wired USB mouse and keyboard and the VM now boots without them attached.

  3. I need a recommendation for a KVM switch.  I have 2 video cards installed (my mother board, an ASUS M5A97 R2.0 has no on board video) in my UNraid box running v 6.6.6. I have a Windows 10 VM hooked up to a Radeon HD 500 card.  The system card is an old PCI Radeon card. The VM works fine when directly hooked up to my Samsung monitor, however it only works intermittently when I attach a KVM switch I had lying around.  The connections are DVI. Additionally, when the VM did display, it only displayed at 1024 resolution.  Any suggestions on a switch?

  4. I have 3 HDDs in the iStar Cage. I have  2 fans in the front of the R5 case and 1 on the top of the case.  The rest of the bays are fully populated with HDDs and I have 2 SSDs mounted in the side brackets.  The temps seem ok to me. Generally the HDDs are 25 to 35 C depending on the load and the season. I live in NYC and have to crank up the AC in the Summer.

  5. I'm on 6.6 RC1.  I have a 2 disk (HDDs) cache pool which I want to replace with a cache pool of 2 SSDs which  I just added to my system.  The SSDs are currently recognized as unassigned disks. I intend to reassign the current 2 HDD disks in my cache pool as data disks.  I have several VMs on my cache pool as well as the system files (docker and libvirt) and docker app data files. I intend to (1) back up the VMs, app data and system directories to the array; (2) Stop the array and remove the current HDDs from the cache pool; (3) add the unassigned SSDs to the cache pool (which I assume will automatically be formated as BTRFS) (4) format the HDDs as XFS and add to the array; (5) Start the array and copy VMs, app data and system directories to new cache pool.  I assume when I restart the array, the VM and docker service will not start until after the system files are copied to the cache pool and I restart the array for the second time. Let me know if I'm missing something.  Thanks.

  6. I'm running a Ubuntu server 16.04 VM.  When I shut down the server and restart it, it boots into safe mode and I have to enter Control-D to get to a log in prompt.  If I restart if (or shut it down and then start it) several times, I will eventually boot to a login prompt.  I have no idea how to trouble shoot this problem.  Any suggestions? I'm on the latest unRAID release (6.5.3.)

  7. I have created a Ubuntu server 16.04 VM and when I try to mount a share I get a "failed to raise network" error on boot.  I find this odd since I've been successfully running another Ubuntu server 16.04 VM.  I copied the same fstab entries that I have in my successful VM, but no luck.  This also occurs when my "successful" VM is shut down and when mounting different shares.  When I mount the shares they are visible within the VM but there's no network.  When I remove the mount point and reboot, the network is raised successfully.  I'm stumped.  Any suggestions?

  8. I have SageTV in a Docker using the DVB plugin running LibreELEC  6.5.1.  I'm trying to get my Hauppauge quad turner working and so far no luck.  Unraid and Sage sees the 4 tuners as

    LG Electronics LGDT3306A VSB/QAM Frontend

but when I select it as a video source (OTA ATSC) I cant tune any channels. Any suggestions?

  9. I'm planning on getting a Fractal Design R5 case and adding a 3 in 2 HDD cage (Icey Dock or Istar) in the two 5.25  top drive enclosures.  Anyone have this case and is there any problem with doing this?  I want to use 11 drive (7 data 2 parity and 2 cache.)  Also, I'm leaning on getting the iStar Cage (iStarUSA BPN-DE230SS-BLUE 2 x 5.25" to 3 x 3.5" SAS / SATA Trayless Hot-Swap Cage) vs the Icy Dock (ICY DOCK FatCage MB153SP-B 3 x 3.5 Inch HDD in 2 x 5.25 Inch Bay Hot Swap SATA 6Gbps HDD Rack/ Cage/ Module.)  Any thoughts on these cages?

  10. My Rosewill server build ended in disaster. Transferred the mother board, everything went fine. When I added 2 disks and inserted all (6) the molex power connectors it wouldn't boot.  I disconnected all but the 2 to the cage where I had the 2 disks and it booted and recognized the disks, ok, maybe I need a heftier PSU.  I went out and bought an 850 watt Cosair PSU and tried connecting all the molex connectors once again and same problem, no boot.  I disconnected all but the 2 and then.... Smoke! Holy Crap! I immediately turned off the PSU.  Result, my disks were fried.  Fortunately they were old left overs that I had from when I upgraded my Unraid build with 2TB disks. I'm RMAing the server case back to Rosewill.  Believe it or not, the new PSU and mother board survived the barbecue and are now back in my old Ubuntu tower chugging away.  And my Unraid server is plugging away in its tower.  Maybe I'll leave it well enough alone.  But I'm a tinkerer so any other options for a 10-16 disk build?

  11. After several years of struggling with a rat's nest of cables, etc. in my tower, I have decided to transplant my UnRaid server into a Rosewill server case I just ordered.  It's the 12 bay hot swap model.  If anyone using this case can give me any build pointers it would be great.

  12. Disk 1 of my 2 disk cache pool was disabled due to cabling issues.  When I secured the lose cable the disk was labeled as unformatted.  It is currently unassigned (I didn't format) while the cache disk 2 rebuilds.  What is the correct procedure to reestablish the 2 disk pool?

  13. I have experienced several crashes of my UnRaid system over the past few months, most recently, yesterday.  I understand that if I enable troubleshooting mode, logs as well as diagnostics will be continually written to my flash  drive.  My only concern is that these crashes happen infrequently, maybe once every two weeks or so.  I have a 32 gig flash drive so I should have enough space but will the constant writing over a period of weeks damage the drive?  If so, what are the alternatives?  Hooking up a monitor after the crash before I manually reboot the system?  Running memtest? BTW, I'm running a Ubuntu VM if that's still an issue. Thanks, any feedback is appreciated.

Right, I am having no luck with being provisioned a Lets Encrypt Cert.
I added "unraid.net" to the "DNS Rebind Protection" exception list for my router. I also changed the DNS used to openDNS. Despite multiple reboots and attempts, I get the error shown in the image consistently. As far as I know openDNS doesn't have DNS Rebind Protection on, so I have no clue at this stage where to go.

Try Google's public dns server. Worked for me
