I used both Popcorn hours and XBMC. both are great. But now i'm using http://www.team-mediaportal.com een branch off of the XBMC project. and liking it more and more, my advice is test them all and then put all de pros and con next to each other and make a choice. btw i'm using an Atom D510 mini-itx board with laptop psu for this setup.

Nice 18 drives Going for 14 drives in my LX just added my SASSLP-MV8 card. Now preclearing the extra HDs. Just love the room in this case even with all the stuff in it is still spacey in side and not a cable mess in sight

First time I saw this, I was like "Whoaa its a Predator" with is shinny tri laser dot. Really like this blinky build compared to my build mine is like a black coffin (boring) love thos red leds

Like both cases. But the R3 is tad smaller but still has like 8 internal hdds and you can use the 3x 5.25 bays the fans are smaller but still quiet. voor my R3 build look here Tower. My second build I used the LX like in your build, its bigger and has a lot of more room 10 internal hdds and the 4x 52.5 that lot of hdd's to store For scalability the LX wins in my eyes but it cost more than the standard R3 but gives a lot in return.

Nice build love the case, Got the same case and also the smaller one. Fractal Designs case with those fans are realy silent.

I select Verify when coping, but I looked it up for you on the source "mucommanders forum" From de site admin of mucommand on there forums: by selecting the 'Verify data integrity' option in the 'Copy', 'Move' and 'Unpack' dialogs, files will be checksumed after they are transferred to ensure they are strictly identical on the source and destination. If you are moving files and the destination doesn't match the source, the source will not be deleted

You can try mucommander i'm using that on my imac http://www.mucommander.com/ mucommander is a kind off total commander but then for every OS

first make sure you copied the preclear_disk.sh script to you flash (\\tower\flash) and make sure your current directory is /boot (use command cd /boot ) then try to run the script (ps made a typo, fixed now)

I my self am using an intel board, others have also intel boards and run fine with them. haven't seen an intel board that didn't work with unraid. just try it with your board, setup an test build.

Correct. So you always can add more. just buy them when you need them. e.g. when adding extra disks. You can buy these kabels at any local pc store

the connector of the psu 4x SATA Power 3x 4 pin Peripheral (Power) so you can add 4 HD on those 4 Sata power connectors. Then add those 4pin power to 2 sata powerconnectors that bolle mentioned you can add 3 of those because the psu has only has 3 "4 pin" power connectors, so 3 x 2 = 6 sata power connector so you can add another 6 HD's 4 HD's + 6 HD's = 10 HD's but you can add even more when you add Power Y spliters, these come in Sata power and 4pin power flavors.

Easy get some Power Y Spliters. You could check the link bolle specified here, there are more cables on that shop, but all pc stores has these kind of cables also checked the connector of the psu SATA x4 4 pin Peripheral x3 so you only can get 3 of the kables bolle said cause they convert 1x 4 pin Peripheral to 2x sata so: SATA x4 4 pin Peripheral x3 + x2 coverter kables = 6 sata So 10 sata HD you can get 4 pin Peripheral Y spiters or you can get Sata power Y spliters. and increase the connectores

Joe L. and bjp999 are updateing unmenu and mymain (new layout), check both topics how to fix this problem. This support topic is about Unraid software and not community tools like unmenu

you could try to add ip + name to the localhost file. Are you running an 3rd party firewall (on the laptop) that blocks port 139 (zonealarm block like crazy)

sharkoon rebel 9 is around 41/45 euros Rebel 9 (note had wrong link (arghh)) but thats without postal or your gone drive to those places (also cost some fuel ) AMD II 240e is a nice choice max 45w and also dualcore (more power than a sempron 140 when you need it)

Corsairs are quiet. So when the load is near 500w your gone hear the fan. but you never reach that mark (maybe only when you have 15 drives and there all starting up, but thats only for a second then the load drops)

Have also the same question as 'Lewcass' and Prostuff1. Reverted back to RC3, cause really liked that that kernel had mod support for the adaptive cpu clock with using acpi-cpufreq. is it possible to have that enabled? or how to enabled in RC5?

you mean this one cause you didn't specify a brand name http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/MSI-H57M-ED65-Motherboard/908 got a nice realtek nic so that should work for networking, but this seams more a performance board? do you have this motherboard already?
