It sounds like you are trying this in the web browser correct?
Please try a native Plex app like Android or iOS, the web app is known to have issues when forcing a transcode and just display a black screen.
haha, yes I was just testing..
I tried my phone worked perfectly lol
Thanks- 1

@DigDug5002 The information above from @G Speed should be taken into consideration. I have never used a Dell server for unRAID but the H310 works fine with my non-Dell hardware. If G Speed has problems with the H310, perhaps one of his other suggestions is a better choice.
What's funny my H310 in IT mode was not happy in my DELL server lmao, backplane got really pissed off lol

So if i flash my h710 mini mono to IT mode then I can use unraid to manage the drives?
Sorry for late response, I don't get notifications
honestly... does the mobo have 2 - Sff-8087 ports?
If so.... just buy 2 cables "they are dirt cheap" go from backplane direct to mobo
don't waste your time flashing anything
Disable the "raid card" and save some power too -

So the other day I bought a r720 and I am wondering what raid card would be best and what else I would need. I currently have a H710 mini mono. and I would like to use unraid to mange raid.
You can buy an HBA330 Mini, You can flash your H710 to IT Mode
You can buy an H730P Mini, and set to passthroughJust want to add..... when I tried my H310 with my R530 it didn't work and gave me a backplane error

I understand your description just fine. The (tiny) screenshot in an earlier post seemed to show it being slow after 6 minutes, but the description in that screenshot also talks about pausing. Can you give a screenshot that shows it being slow after it has run continuously for several minutes?

That looks excellent (of course). Can you show us the problem after it has run for a while?
I think you missed the original issue, the above is me spinning up the drives and starting.. it will do the parity scan at full speed "according to the benchmarks" for the full duration.
On the other hand
When unraid starts parity, when disk are spundown
It won't hit over 60MB/s, 1min..40mins.. doesn't matter.. doesn't catch up.. doesn't slow down -

Why did you give us a screenshot showing it has run less than a minute? Demonstrate it is still happening after things settle.
Total size:6 TB
Elapsed time:44 minutes
Current position:525 GB (8.8 %)
Estimated speed:193.1 MB/sec
Estimated finish:7 hours, 53 minutes
Sync errors corrected: 0
Everything is 100% fine when I spin up drives

I have always seen this, on every server and every OS version/ For the first min it's slow and then gets up to speed. Doesn't bother me because it always picks up to the max and it's the average time and speed when it's done that's important.
First minute sure, not 16mins
26mins still same
Stop parity, try again same
Spin down, spin up

IIRC this happened before to someone else, i.e., disks being slower if woke by activity, don't remember if you found if the problem were the disks or the controller.
This is my concern..... Parity whatever..
I can spin up then start.
But what's odd is when parity is running, and I pause it.. and wait..
All drives are spun up, if I resume.. same slow speed.
If I spin down, then up again full speed!

Have you let the parity check run for a couple of minutes (The snip shows it ran for 7 seconds)? What you're seeing is basically normal and the speed should be more or less identical after it all levels out and calms down.
I can try sure, but I have never seen this behavior on my other unraid systems

Downgraded to 6.9.2 same issue

So I'm testing a new server....
Using Version: 6.10.0-rc5
Here is what's happening...
Drives Spun Down... I click check parity, Drives spin up. I get 50-60MB/s per drive
I Cancel...
I spin drives down.. then I spin drives up
Start parity, I get 200MB/s per drive
Cancel.. Spin Down..
Click Parity... 50-60MB/s
I can replicate this every timeLog SHOWS nothing

It's a Dell R530, with an H730 set to HBA <- Yes it's a proper IT Mode, full disk pass to OS, Smart Etc...This is when unraid calls for a spinup for parity check
I will cancel the above.. SPIN DOWN the array.. then SPIN UP.. Start parity check..

I refer you to my post here: Search of SMB shares not working (MacOS client)
This this solution improved my experience on macOS working with files on Unraid. I too experienced much frustration shifting away from AFP to SMB as the experience seemed much slower. However, with the right configuration changes (both client-side and server-side) I discovered SMB can be as good, if not superior, to AFP. I hope it helps you out.
Thanks! going to try the fixes right now the kb on 45 drives got updated as well for bigsur -
Hey everyone,
Quick thanks to the girls and guys on discord!
so I'm having some crazy issues and I have no idea how to fix them, I'm brand new to Mac wanted to try something different
First thing I noticed was I can't search my unraid server, not command + space.. but just a regular folder search. I did get it working very shortly, but it caused the server to unmount and need to be reconnected every time I left finder.
aka I would click on share, it would load an empty folder, then kick me back out to main... then would need to reclick to login in again.
Second Issues, unraid created a folder/file "torrent"..for some reason I can't see the directory on the Mac... I can view it on windows and the webgui
I went into unraid and enabled MacOs Operatbility thing under SMB, and guess what it worked!! I could see the directory....but no files in it...
So I wanted to try something, so I created a new folder within.. and it gave me an error code 43
Some google searching hit me with thisNo idea how to replicate this in unraid...
Thanks in advance -
I didn't even know they did youtube lol

I'm planning on putting together a new server, If I set it up with the 30 day trial.
Can I move over my actual unraid license afterwards?
It will probably take a few days to get everything setup and running -
I may have 2.....
