  1. Thanks for the response... unraid is rebuilding it now.
  2. Noticed slow speeds to my unraid box and opened the management console to find my 2nd array drive flashing red. Rebooted and it vanished completely... Reseated the cables and now it shows up. Ran a smart test and pulled the log, everything seems ok to me, anybody else? I think the ton of test aborts is because I kept refreshing the unmenu screen expecting to see results there not knowing I had to pull the report. smartctl 5.40 2010-10-16 r3189 [i486-slackware-linux-gnu] (local build) Copyright (C) 2002-10 by Bruce Allen, http://smartmontools.sourceforge.net === START OF INFORMATION SECTION === Model Family: Western Digital Caviar Green (Adv. 3. Popcorn Hour A210 running a YAMJ Jukebox using SabishGT skin. Plays everything. Love it.
  4. Behind my TV... When the house was built in 2004 they built a cubby hole above the fireplace for our current TV at the time which was a 32" widescreen CRT (now we regret not building it bigger of course) there was enough of a mantle to pull the old stand out and get our 50" Panasonic TC-P50G20 plasma securely on it. My unRAID box sits behind it on the stand connected to a gigabit switch which also connects our Popcorn Hour A210, the gigabit switch is connected to an old Linksys WRT54G which has been converted to wireless bridge duty to connect to our wireless network. I have it connected to a UPS, temps seem fine and I have not had to move the TV to get to the server since I stuck it back there. Only pic I have of the setup at the moment, just one of me enjoying some Modern Warfare 3 over the weekend.
  5. Thanks guys... I didn't use separate shares due to reading about a lot of the network attached media streamers having issues with mounting/browsing/indexing multiple SMB Shares. I don't own one yet but didn't want to have an issue with whatever I end up with.
  6. This is what I have right now... can someone reassure me that I have this setup right? MEDIA is the User Share... I don't care where it puts movie sub folders or the MKV inside of it... the only time it is going to have multiple files in a movie folder is if there is a VIDEO_TS folder present and I want the contents of that folder to stay together. I don't care where it puts TV shows or Season folders but I want the contents of the seasons to stay together. I don't care where it puts the year/event folder for my personal photos but would like the contents of the event folders to stay together. I have it set to Split level 3 right now but can't figure out if it needs to be 4 or not because some of the other diagrams confuse me with the user share labeled as level 1.
  7. This is my first unRAID build. I have been thinking of buying or building some kind of home NAS for a while but never got around to it. Then I lost a 500GB drive with photos and videos, Thankfully I had them mostly backed up but it still was not a good situation. Researching a network media streamer for my new 50" Plasma home theater setup I stumbled upon unRAID. After reading about it for a good week or so, I started ordering parts. I had the motherboard, CPU and RAM laying around, bought the case, powersupply and drives. OS at time of building: unRAID 4.6 CPU: Pentium D 820 Motherboard: Intel DG965RY RAM: 2x1GB PC5300 DDR2 Case: CoolerMaster 690 II Advanced Power Supply: Corsair CX500 Parity Drive: 2TB WD20EARS Data Drives: 2x 2TB WD20EARS Cache Drive: None... yet. Total Drive Capacity: 6TB Primary Use: Streaming 1080p Bluray and TV rips to my PS3 for now, soon to be a standalone media player. Storing personal photos/videos. Likes: Ease of setup, hardware compatibility Dislikes: None yet. Add Ons Used: unMenu Future Plans: Buy a Plus license, Add more 2TB data drives and setup a cache drive.
  8. How do my 3 drives look? These are brand new WD20EARS drives jumpered.
  9. Posted this in Hardware but I guess it really belonged here in Pimp your Rig... So far this is my build Coolermaster CM690 II Advanced Intel DG965RY Motherboard Intel Pentium D 820 2.80GHz Don't remember where the power supply came from or what brand it is. 2x1GB PC-4200 DDR2 Memorex 1GB thumb drive I just ordered 3 2TB WD20EARS drives today as well as a Corsair CX500 power supply. Should all be in by the end of the week. There is a 80GB 3.5" and 120GB laptop harddrive in the case right now I used as a test bed for unRAID before I ordered drives. I love this case, def the best I have ever owned, makes for a very clean install and for $79 shipped from Amazon, Can't complain about the price either. The only negative part on my build is I lost the metal I/O panel for the motherboard while it was in storage. Here are some pics, wiring is not final as I plan on replacing the Power supply as well as the hard drives this week. This server will serve as storage for MKV and Bluray ISO's to be streamed to a yet to be purchased network media device, thinking of a popcorn hour A-210 or C-200 as well as to store personal pictures and videos from my GoPro HD Hero video camera. I will update pictures as I finish the build later this week. I am going to search for one of the USB header to USB port adapters at the office tomorrow to move my thumbdrive internal... I know I have a bunch that we got with new motherboards.
  10. Oh.. yeah that too Ordered 3 this morning, was going to wait for the price to drop again but I am getting tired of only having 80GB of space on my unRAID box.
  11. You can use Screen to run them without needing to keep Telnet open. http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php?title=Configuration_Tutorial#Preclearing_With_Screen
  12. Yeah I have been reading up on them, thanks for the info tho. Scouring work for some spare jumpers ATM... Altho I see with yesterdays post about 5.0 Beta 3 coming soon unRAID will support these drives better without jumpers, I will keep my eye on that as my drives prob won't be here till Thursday or Friday.
  13. Just ordered 3 WD20EARS 2TB Drives and a Corsair CX500 power supply. Will update when they get here.
  14. There is a $20 MIR on these drives now. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136514&cm_re=2TB-_-22-136-514-_-Product http://images10.newegg.com/uploadfilesfornewegg/rebate/SH/WesternDigital22-136-514DEC27Jan1611SL75.pdf
  15. Newegg's Shell Shocker for this morning 12/28/10 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139018
  16. Thanks! The drive configuration is exactly why I went with the 690 over the oh so popular 590. I will be sure to post up in pimp my rig once I finish it. My only dislike with the whole thing is I lost the metal I/O shield for the rear of the case for this motherboard. Oh well, not like I will be plugging things in/out all of the time.
  17. I am in the middle of my first unRAID build, looking forward to learning more about the unRAID operating system/configuration on the forums, have already solved a few small issues with help from past posts! The only thing I purchased so far was the case, the rest was hardware I had laying around home/the office. I need to purchase some 2TB hard drives shortly (Price went up on newegg on the EARS drives in the past week, going to wait until after the holidays to see what happens). So far this is my build Coolermaster CM690 II Advanced Intel DG965RY Motherboard Intel Pentium D 820 2.80GHz Don't remember where the power supply came from or what brand it is, used it in my last gaming build and it was fine. Will replace with a Corsair 550W eventually. 2x1GB PC-4200 DDR2 Memorex 1GB thumb drive Right now I have a Seagate 80GB 7200.10 and a Toshiba 120GB Laptop hard drive in the system as a temporary storage/test solution, the 120 as Parity and 80 as Data. Once I buy some 2TB drives I will swap these 2 out. I love this case, def the best I have ever owned and for $79 shipped from Amazon, Can't complain about the price either. Here are some pics, wiring is not final as I plan on replacing the Power supply as well as the hard drives in the next few months. This server will serve as storage for MKV and Bluray ISO's to be streamed to a yet to be purchased network media device, thinking of a popcorn hour A-210 or C-200 as well as to store personal pictures and videos from my GoPro HD Hero video camera.
