  5. i am going to be looking into this. i currently run a mac pro that i use for ripping blurays, syncing calendar/bills, my embroidery machine software runs on mac. what i would like to do is have monitor/keyboard/mouse/usb that i can use over ethernet so i can have the server system in the basement and then be able to sit on the couch and virtually use my mac. i will be following this thread and will be looking at adding an os x vm to my unraid. is there a limit to what version of os x can currently be ran using the methods you described? thanks

  14. I purchased a used system on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/331342951974?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT it has a supermicro sas846el1 backplane installed and a LSI MegaRAID SAS 8888elp card with one cable going to the backplane. is there a way to flash this card to make it work with unRaid or should i be looking for a different card? thank you for your assistance christopher
  15. here is mine. looks like it is time to get the WDC (green) drives out and get some more of the Seagate drives in (mabye some of the enterprise level instead of consumer even) Disk /dev/sda skipped; UNRAID boot or flash drive /dev/sdb (Disk 12): 83 MB/sec avg /dev/sdc (Disk 16): 96 MB/sec avg /dev/sdd (Disk 7): 68 MB/sec avg /dev/sde (Disk 3): 69 MB/sec avg /dev/sdf (Disk 15): 95 MB/sec avg /dev/sdg (Parity): 131 MB/sec avg /dev/sdh (Disk 2): 71 MB/sec avg /dev/sdi (Disk 1): 68 MB/sec avg /dev/sdj (Disk 10): 94 MB/sec avg /dev/sdk (Disk 11): 85 MB/sec avg /dev/sdl (Disk 6): 153 MB/sec avg /dev/sdm (Disk 13): 94 MB/sec avg /dev/sdn (Cache): 74 MB/sec avg /dev/sdo (Disk 17): 89 MB/sec avg /dev/sdp (Disk 4): 153 MB/sec avg /dev/sdq (Disk 9): 93 MB/sec avg /dev/sdr (Disk : 71 MB/sec avg /dev/sds (Disk 5): 154 MB/sec avg /dev/sdt (Disk 14): 132 MB/sec avg /dev/sdu (Disk 18): 70 MB/sec avg
  16. i am not at home right now, but i thought that if you clicked on the "tools" screen that there was an update button for each docker/plugin app.
  17. Stay tuned... patiently refreshing the screen every 30 seconds
  18. I don't know if the board will work for you, but I just picked up a supermicro x8dtn+ for $140 (ebay) and (2) 5670 6 core chips ($275) for the pair.i just got unraid and up and working (had to disable the network boot options on the pci-x slot) and will be trying out the kvm/xen scenarios this week sometime. Looking to run unraid, plex, mac osx (blu ray rips, and I like macs), and possibly pfsense (although I might do a separate 1u server for this so that the Internet isn't down while i have the server down for maintenance. The only issue with the x8dtn board is that it is enhanced extended atx and you either need a case to handle it (supermicro) or are capable of extending your power supply wiring (which is what I am going to be doing) to get it out of the way.
  19. Alright, we are up and running (doing a parity check now). here is what happened. before reading your response i tried a brand new san disk cruizer flash drive (loaded with the free unraid software). still nothing. then i downloaded ubuntu and loaded that onto another flash drive, still nothing. after that i removed both of the pci-x sat2-mv8 cards and put my original UnRaid usb back in.... it booted up. went into the bios and found these settings Slot1~Slot3 PCI-X Option ROM/Slot4~Slot6 PCI-E Option ROM Select Enabled to enable the onboard PCI Slot Option ROM as specified (except the VGA card). This is to boot computer using a network interface. The options are Enabled and Disabled. Load Onboard LAN1 Option ROM/Load Onboard LAN2 Option ROM Select Enabled to enable the onboard LAN1 or LAN2 Option ROM. This is to boot computer using a network interface. The options are Enabled and Disabled. i disabled everything, reinstalled the pci-x Sat2-MV8 cards and everything booted up the way it should have. like i said, currently doing a parity check 84.6MB/sec, 13 hours to go (4 TB parity) thank you for all the advice, like i said in a different thread "i might not be sophisticated, but i know my way around a computer." i just had to figure out why the pci-x cards were stopping the usb from booting.
