Just added a new cache drive..out of the box new and it added fine but shows unformated..I tried to use the format in the webgui and it shows started formatting but nothing at all happens the drive just shows as unformatted still..tried a few times now. Is there an issue formatting with beta 9?
This is an EARS drive without jumpers...I have 4 other EARS drives in the array with jumpers. Not sure if that is important or not

Can anyone give me some ideas on the best thing to put in the export NFS box per share..The main thing I want is to be able to access this share using itunes. I currently have (*rw) in the box now and it seems to work ok I had to chmod the Itunes folder to get any access to it. I used 777 I can currently see the folder when I mount it but any files that get copied are not showing up on other pc's Almost like the permissions are not getting addded? Forgive me I'm a linux noob just trying to learn
Unraid 4.7 final
Accessing the shares with win7 64bit
Correction I have *(rw) in the box now

Unraid 4.7
My shares look like the following:
drwxrwx--- 1 nobody users 128 Jan 30 19:21 Backups/
drwx------ 1 root root 48 Apr 1 22:05 DropBox\ Backup/
drwx------ 1 root root 96 Feb 6 04:00 FTP\ Server/
drwxrwx--- 1 nobody users 96 Apr 10 04:00 Home\ Folders/
drwxrwxrwx 1 nobody users 312 Mar 23 22:12 Itunes\ Library/
drwxrwx--- 1 nobody users 1560 Apr 1 20:47 Movies/
drwxrwx--- 1 nobody users 984 Feb 1 23:23 Music/
drwxrwx--- 1 nobody users 48 Jan 25 17:12 Pictures/
drwxrwx--- 1 nobody users 3536 Mar 15 23:05 Recorded\ TV\ Shows/
drwxrwx--- 1 nobody users 2400 Apr 12 21:20 Software\ Files/
drwxrwx--- 1 nobody users 176 Mar 27 04:00 Videos\ Files/
drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 112 Feb 14 23:22 torrents/
I have no idea why these perms look different. One thing to note is the Itunes\ Library directory is highlighted green when looking at it through ubuntu.
Be gentle I'm barely an amateur in the Linux world

So if they are jumpered leave the setting at MBR unaligned?
-
If I have jumpers on my EARS drives does this setting in 4.7 need to be set to MBR-Unaligned or MBR 4K Aligned?

Try this. I added all my unraid network drives with it. Another thing M$ really screwed up why would we not want to option to index the network folders we access all the time

I installed it from unmenu. I'm basically trying to figure out how to configure it. I have no idea how to configure it I thought there was a conf file for rsync in the etc folder but seems to not be there
-
I have it installed but the only way I can upload etc to it is to just choose the ip address of the nas and upload to it....Where are the files going? and How could I point it to a particular drive I have tried 192.X.X.X/mnt/disk1/backups but this craps out...what am I doing wrong?

Can't get this to work to save my life

Moved back to 5 beta 2. works again
-
Should I just copy and paste my backup flash into the current flash? or delete the current files and paste the backup in the flash? The fix prob won't be for a few days at least right?
-
when did he do this? i literally just updated a bit ago and it was fine before that
-
It always worked fine before beta 3 and now on reboot after upgrade to beta 3 it only shows 3 disks..Like its unregistered. I verified the the plus.key file is still in the config file...has this location changed?
-
If I have my path setup like \\Tower\Movies\Aliens\vob,avi,mpg etc
Should I have my split level set to 1?
-
How do I set this thing to not go over the 120 GB mark while I'm uploading to the cache drive? I see the min free space section but shouldn't that just be 0? confused
-
Yup cache drive is enabled on all the shares at this point. I ordered a 120 GB Corsair SSD today. I hope it makes a big difference
One question about the SSD. what should I set the Min. free space: to in the cache area of unraid? the ssd drive again is 120 gb

Just need a verification that the following mover schedule will move data from cache to array every hour at the top of the hour
00 * * * *
I also set the minimum free space to 100000 I have a 1 tb drive (Prob didn't need to change this from default)

Your disk may be slow depending on if it needs to be jumpered and what version of unraid and hardware you are running so a bit more info please.

As for cache drives, I don't use one. I get around 30mb/s writes to the array, with a hdd cache i was getting it up around 50-60. The only problem with ssd's are the size. Unless you want to copy one blu-ray rip to use straight I found I probably saved maybe 10 mins for a hdd cache, ripping the blu-ray to iso still took up to an 30-60 min so I found cache's not that much use.

I have jumpered all the EARS drives (Right out of the packaging) I'm starting to think it maybe just an issue with moving files from one hard drive to another. I don't really know. As I write this it is moving files to the unraid box at around 22 MB/s

I'm using a 1tb eads Drive as my cache now and I'm having transfer speed issues from my other machines in the network. I'm on 1 Gb network and just seems slow to transfer files to cache drive at 10 MB a sec that Mega Bytes not bits. Wondering if that EADS drive is the issue
-
Oh forgot to mention that the 4 EARS drives are all 2TB drives (Array) and the caviar black (parity) is also a 2 TB drive the cache drive the EADS is just a 1 TB drive
-
I just built the system with 4 brand new WD EARS drives (with jumpers on 7/8) have caviar black as parity and WDEADS 1 tb as cache drive...
Question is I'm still running the parity sync and I see that one of the drives has reads and writes to it but the temp is 0. All the others show reads and writes but also the temperature. Does this sound like the new drive is just faulty or am I missing a configuration thing somewhere?
I'm brand new with unraid

I'm at work now but I will run those commands and post them later today. It seems to me that the drive is not partitioned I have unassigned it and added it to the array to test and it does go to the blue dot and again still will not format...Like I said I'll do the commands suggested about tonight and post results
