  1. Well all depends on your budget. The 1060/1070 GPUs will take alot of your budget. Depends on what HDD/SSD space you want. So how much do you have to work with is the best thing to really start with. unRaid does not need a GPU due to it's only a webgui interface.
  2. I've had the Supermicro AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 and had issues with it. Moved over to a LSI MegaRaid. Cost is roughly the same. I would recommend the LSI as well if your MoBo doesn't have enought sata slots.
  3. Good day, I've have used Corsair PSUs on my SuperMicro mobos but mostly the AX series lines. But the PSU you are refering to and what some might say are not compatible is due to not able to plug the PSU into the Mobo. (SuperMicro PSUs have a special plug that plugs into the mobo on top of the 24pin - 4/8 pin.) However it is not needed. Just the 20/24 pin and the 4/8pin is required for the mobo. The PSU you chose is compatible with the mobo. Just use a single 4pin connector. It's okay with the other 4 pin hanging to the side of the other connector. Now if you are saying your LAN ports are not working you will need to check your Jumper settings. https://www.supermicro.com/manuals/motherboard/C222/MNL-1428.pdf If you log into the IPMI via the IPMIView20 OR the website. It will tell you your Voltages and will say if its out of tolerance. Please see pictures for reference.
  4. Thanks for the quick response. Okay. If I go that route isn't the VM tied to a "limit" of HDD space or is it "flexable" now? Also what GPU is recommended? Is there a list per say on showing this X card will do X streams or whatnot?
  5. Well do have to say it seems quieter than I expected.
  6. Sooo not quite sure where to post this... SOOooooo yea. Anyways... running unraid with plex in a docker container. I am wanting to do hardware encoding because my CPUs (Xeon E5-2630 v4) don't support Intel Quick Sync. I have been looking around and "Googling" and everyone is like "Go get an nvidia card." BUT apparently can only handle up to 2 streams. I've been seeing quite a few NVIDIA Quadro cards around would it work? Or what about the AMD Radeon pro or AMD FirePro or even AMD Vega?
  7. I think what @HellDiverUK is trying to say is he is using the server remotely and connecting to the VMs through the unRaid website. The question for @sakh1979 is: Are you wanting to use the unRaid machine as your primary machine as well OR do you want it as a standalone machine?
  8. Also I might add that after I was able to get it booted. I did a apt-get update / upgrade and it had also fixed the EFI issue.
  9. As long as the black RAM slots are loaded you will be fine. I would just load the UNRAID OS on a usb stick. The satadom if want to use one would be fine for a cache. But for the cost not worth it. Everything you have selected is from SuperMicro. While that is what I use for my MoBos. You don't have to use everything from them. There are cheaper alternatives out there on the market.
  10. Drider: Yes, I am selling the internals from my L4500. If a person has a Rosewill R4000, L4000, or L4412 case. Then with what I am selling will turn that case into a L4500. Plus the added bonus they get the Noctua fans.
  11. Correct, I am selling the accessories to turn your case into a 15bay 3.5" HDD case. I will rename the title of the post to better reflect this. Sorry for the confusion.
  12. So the 3 pictures of the fans showing is what your case will turn into. The picture of the all the blue lights is what you might have. This is what I was talking about from a hot swap case. My zip is 77380
  13. So I found how to fix this https://askubuntu.com/questions/566315/virtualbox-boots-only-in-uefi-interactive-shell and on the opened window add these 2 lines: press Ctrl + s and Enter to save and Ctrl + q to quit. Then restart VM. Alternatively, you can always use these 2 lines to exit shell and boot OS. But second time you restart you will be in a shell again and to avoid it edit startup.nsh.
  14. I have a Rosewill RSV-L4500 and turned it into a hot swap case now. You get the cables, fans, cages, mounts. Basically everything you see in the pictures. Everything for $100. plus shipping. I am in Texas. paypal or bitcoin/litecoin accepted. Now you may say I can buy the case for $100. That is true but you also are not getting it with the Noctua fans. There is at least $125 worth of fans here not including the extensions.
  15. So I am getting this error trying to start up my ubuntu vm. I didn't save the lib file when i moved servers. I had just copied over the .img files and put the specs back to what they were. All was good with my Windows VMs but my ubuntu vm.. well not so much luck. So how do I go about fixing this? Also I had upgraded from 6.3.5 to 6.4.1
  16. I have looked at both of these posts and still having some issues. I have gotten the 2 ports that I want off of both controllers hidden but its not showing up in the VM port area under available pci devices on the VM section. I had first tried: vfio-pci.ids=8086:1528, 8086:10fb But it had hidden the whole network card and thankfully I was able to get to the web gui via the SFP+ port. Then I have tried: xen-pciback.hide=(03:00.1)(81:00.1) and it hid the correct ports that is wanted but its not showing them available for the VM side. I am wanting to pass through one port from the x540 and one from the SFP+ for PfSense. Thank you for the help in advanced. I had followed this guide to get all the details along with the others posted below.
  17. I was hoping to not have to go that route due to the server is 10g and the us16 is the only 10g switch I have. Plus using one controller for the Unifi system. That is why I was hoping I could do this with VLANs.
  18. Does anyone have any idea on why this is happening?
  19. As of currently the vlan16 is only in the US-16-XG. On the ports for the pfsense box and the 2 SFP ports.
  20. Its not connected to the VLAN16. But I don't understand why that would cause an issue?
  21. So here is something that got me wondering. My server has 4 NICs total 2 - 10gb onboard ethernet nics 2 - SFP+ pcie I have the 2 ethernet nics set to bonded for redundancy. The other 2 are left to there own devices. On the switch side I have the 2 sfp+ ports set to VLAN16. I have a VM set to one of the sfp ports and I get the correct IP and everything. BUT I am able to see my other network as well... Now the sfp ports also run off of a different router/network. The switches are the only thing that is the same. Something that is making me wonder is if for some reason the sfp ports are communicating through the unraid? I am talking with the company over the switches and they say its correct on how I have it. https://community.ubnt.com/t5/UniFi-Routing-Switching/routing-and-switching-question/m-p/2051298#M56532 Any ideas? Edit: Sorry if this is in the wrong section.
  22. Idk. But I just removed it from the template and it worked.
  23. When I click on detach it doesn't do anything... Version 6.3.5
