Best (easiest?) path to migrate from reiserfs
Ya, that's what the first post was i was following; but it ends after you copy the data over. It's not clear if you need to do anything prior to reformatting the original drive with all the data on it (the data that has been copied to a new drive in the new format).

Best (easiest?) path to migrate from reiserfs
Ok, so I copied everything from one drive to a second drive (a new, blank drive that is XFS). Do I just change the original (reiserfs) drive to XFS, wiping it? Will the system know the new XFS drive has all the data that was in the shares? Or do I need to remap or something before i mess with the original drive?

Best (easiest?) path to migrate from reiserfs
I have a fairly simple setup - one parity drive, one 3TB data drive and one 2TB data drive. Both data drivers are reiserfs. I see some errors recommending converting to XFS. However, when I search these forums I see a lot of detail and people doing all kinds of stuff as well as links to guides that no longer exist. Is there a simple way to accomplish this? Thanks!

Recommended way to update from 6.8.3 to current version
I haven't used my server in about a year so everything is out of date. Update OS gets stuck on "plugin: checking unRAIDServer.plg ..." Also plugins are all old not showing a version. I only have one docker (plex). What's the best way to get everything back up to date? Thanks!

Help with network connectivity
I have one solid and one blinking light on the card; unfortunately I don't have keyboard/monitor with unraid...I could but it would be a giant pain so a final step if there's no other thoughts.

Yes, that is the problem - it doesn't show up in the table of connected devices

Help with network connectivity
Well if it isn't that, then I'm not sure what else to post. What would some troubleshooting steps be to figure out why it isn't showing up on the router client list?

Help with network connectivity
Hoping someone can help with what i imagine is a basic problem as I'm not a network person. Haven't used my server for a while and wanted to spin it back up. Had switched routers in the meantime (used to be a 192.168.1.x address block and is now a 192.168.50.x address block). I'm using a known good ethernet cable, but the router logs aren't showing it as an attached device. I did pull the flash drive and the config file doesn't have anything preset (other than USE_DHCP=yes). That about tapped out my knowledge. Any ideas? Router log is showing the same 4 lines every 5 minutes or so from when it was plugged in but some google searches didn't show a quick answer: May 18 11:26:55 bsd: bsd: Sending act Frame to 16:d8:85:1a:91:0c with transition target eth6 ssid e8:9c:25:67:5a:30 May 18 11:26:55 bsd: bsd: BSS Transit Response: ifname=eth7, event=156, token=cb, status=1, mac=00:00:00:00:00:00 May 18 11:26:55 bsd: bsd: BSS Transit Response: STA reject May 18 11:26:55 bsd: bsd: Skip STA:16:d8:85:1a:91:0c reject BSSID I did try all the other basics...restart router, turn on and off server, stop using mouse as foot pedal, etc. Thanks in advance.

Upgrading unRaid-5 to unRaid-6
Hi, I had unRAID 5.0.5 and been very delinquent in upgrading. I did the following steps: 1 - Remove usb stick from NAS, insert into my main PC 2 - made a copy of the usb stick (pat on the head) 3 - Placed plexupdater.plg that I downloaded from the first post in this thread into the plugins folder 4 - Plugged it back into my NAS and booted it up My NAS booted into the standard 5.0.5 GUI screen, and then I clicked reboot. It rebooted the NAS, but hasn't done anything since. Any thoughts? USB stick is 8GB, so tons of space. Also I have minimal plugins (just plexmediaserver, unraidserver and powerdown). It's been about 15 minutes...is this expected to take a long time? I have not yet purchased a v6 license...thought I would do that from the new GUI but not sure if that makes a difference.

Preclear.sh results - Questions about your results? Post them here.
I think first preclear reports are very hard to interpret. But there is a lot of good info. A basic wiki, even at the start of this thread that goes line by line through a report and shows what it means/should say would help out a lot. You can even use one that is all good, since that is likely the majority of results, which would just result in actual problems being posted here. Obviously changing the preclear report to say 'this is a good drive, don't post to the forums' would work too, but I think most people doing this would like an explanation of what they see so they can get smarter.

So completed first preclear. Any comments on my results? Also, this is a post from the e-mail I got, if there is a better way to share the results please let me know and I will do that. Looks good to me, but I am honestly not entirely sure what I am looking at. ========================================================================1.15 == invoked as: ./preclear_disk.sh -A -m -c 3 /dev/sdb --(NOTE: I deleted my e-mail from this post which was after -m and before -c) == WDCWD20EURX-63T0FY0 WD-WCC4M1851765 == Disk /dev/sdb has been successfully precleared == with a starting sector of 64 == Ran 3 cycles == == Using :Read block size = 8388608 Bytes == Last Cycle's Pre Read Time : 5:48:50 (95 MB/s) == Last Cycle's Zeroing time : 4:47:28 (115 MB/s) == Last Cycle's Post Read Time : 9:52:21 (56 MB/s) == Last Cycle's Total Time : 14:40:49 == == Total Elapsed Time 49:51:38 == == Disk Start Temperature: 28C == == Current Disk Temperature: 29C, == ============================================================================ ** Changed attributes in files: /tmp/smart_start_sdb /tmp/smart_finish_sdb ATTRIBUTE NEW_VAL OLD_VAL FAILURE_THRESHOLD STATUS RAW_VALUE Temperature_Celsius = 118 119 0 ok 29 No SMART attributes are FAILING_NOW 0 sectors were pending re-allocation before the start of the preclear. 0 sectors were pending re-allocation after pre-read in cycle 1 of 3. 0 sectors were pending re-allocation after zero of disk in cycle 1 of 3. 0 sectors were pending re-allocation after post-read in cycle 1 of 3. 0 sectors were pending re-allocation after zero of disk in cycle 2 of 3. 0 sectors were pending re-allocation after post-read in cycle 2 of 3. 0 sectors were pending re-allocation after zero of disk in cycle 3 of 3. 0 sectors are pending re-allocation at the end of the preclear, the number of sectors pending re-allocation did not change. 0 sectors had been re-allocated before the start of the preclear. 0 sectors are re-allocated at the end of the preclear, the number of sectors re-allocated did not change. ============================================================================ ============================================================================ == == S.M.A.R.T Initial Report for /dev/sdb == Disk: /dev/sdb smartctl 6.2 2013-07-26 r3841 [i686-linux-3.9.11p-unRAID] (local build) Copyright © 2002-13, Bruce Allen, Christian Franke, www.smartmontools.org === START OF INFORMATION SECTION === Device Model: WDC WD20EURX-63T0FY0 Serial Number: WD-WCC4M1851765 LU WWN Device Id: 5 0014ee 25f23e70c Firmware Version: 80.00A80 User Capacity: 2,000,398,934,016 bytes [2.00 TB] Sector Sizes: 512 bytes logical, 4096 bytes physical Rotation Rate: 5400 rpm Device is: Not in smartctl database [for details use: -P showall] ATA Version is: ACS-2 (minor revision not indicated) SATA Version is: SATA 3.0, 6.0 Gb/s (current: 6.0 Gb/s) Local Time is: Thu Aug 7 21:00:42 2014 PDT SMART support is: Available - device has SMART capability.
