  1. Thanks DZMM.

I tested this on 1 folder and then deleted it. Tried to add it again and i have:

    No files imported from /downloads
    Skipped 1 paths.

Anyway that i can 'resync' this?

EDIT - OK so i rename the folder in downloads and then ran the command again - then chose Remove all.

    Thanks for your help

One last question - the folders in my output folder are being tagged with an underscore at the end. Can i change this?

You need to first ssh into your unraid server via putty or ssh then run the commands.

Can anyone help me please? So i have created the 3 directories and mapped them but if i try to run 'docker exec -i -t Beets bash' i get the message 'Error response from daemon: No such container: Beets'

So none of the commands seem to work for me.

They should be in the logs folder/directory on the flash drive.   You should be seeing one named FCPsyslog_tail.txt  (It has been quite a while since I last used FCP in the trouble shooting mode but that file stores the results of the 10 minute tail command.  I believe it also generates a syslog operation periodically.)

Yeah i think i may have rebooted a week before the crash - and that stops the logging. So i have enabled it again.

Thank you for replying, and your help so far.

  4. OK - so my system has just frozen - where does fix common problems store the log file please?

OK - i found it on the cache drive but it only logged from when i had to reboot it?

Thank you I will try this when I get back into the office.

Did you manage to get onlyoffice server docker working? I would like to implement openoffice in my nextcloud build, but cant find any unraid guides for it.

  6. Hi all,

I have nextcloud working nicely with external secure access with letsencrypt. I am trying to find out if there is a guide (or even if it is possible) to install passman & openoffice to my setup.

Has anyone done it, and if so can they point me to any guides please?

    Thanks,

    Tony

Install the 'Fix Common Problems' plugin and turn on its troubleshooting mode.  It will periodically write logs to the logs folder.  You can upload these to the forum.  Also connect a monitor to the server and after it freezes, see what is on the monitor.  If the bottom line on the screen is anything but a login prompt, take photos until you get one that is non-blurry, sharply focused without a flash spot in it.

Thanks for this, I'll get that setup. I have ipmi access to the server and it is just the login screen but is completely unresponsive.
  8. Hi guys,

Is there anyway that i can diagnose an issue with my system? It is randomly freezing and i am not sure where to start. The syslog file is basically empty (it is only showing the events after i have reset the system. I was wondering if there are any other logs i can look at, or start logging?

    Thanks in advance.

  9. New update - OK so i have now removed the ghost share and it seems to be working. What does break it is if you try and redirect your documents folder to the mapped drive. This then completely breaks the permissions so badly that you need to delete the share in order to get write permissions working again!!

  10. OK i think i am getting somewhere. I created a new share and it now works.

So i tried to delete my old share (which has disappeared from the unraid gui) but it still shows when i browse to my unraid server?

I think the issue is that it is remembering old share names. If i create a new name share then it works?! Is there a cleanup tool i can run??

I have read a few posts about this - and this link takes me to another link which is then quite old.

I have tried adding a user to unraid as the same name as windows and then clearing the saved credentials and net use * /delete. I then reboot server and PC but i still do not have write permissions. A lot of the posts talk about generally accessing the share (which i can do), i just have read only permissions when my user is set to read/write.

Have a look under view in explorer and check or uncheck the hidden files should solve it.

Windows is set to not show hidden folders. It looks to me that it is not hidden as it is not called .Recycle.Bin. The $ in windows is to hide a share but it isnt a share.

  13. Hi guys - i am hoping someone could help!

I am having a knightmare trying to setup private shares on my unraid server.

I create the share, make it private and then assign my user read/write access.

I then try to map the drive in windows. It asks me for credentials, which it then accepts and maps the drive. I then try to write to the share and it says that i do not have permission. I have rebooted and run 'Docker Safe New Perms' but nothing seems to work. It looks like i can create a file sometimes on the share, and then it just stops working and i can read only.

    Any ideas please?

  14. Thanks for this. That is what i thought that i could do. Just set up the docker and get it to backup the entire unraid server - which would include the vmdk, xml and shares.

Can you do individual file restores do you know?

Has anyone successfully implement folder redirection through group policy using an UnRAID share (ie. Home Drives)?  It seems each time I login to a new computer and the folders redirect to the network share, the permissions get all screwed up and the home drive's owner changes from the user to nobody.

My only experience with AD is using Windows file servers so I'm not sure how well this plays with Linux file servers.

Sorry to bump and old thread but I will be looking to do just this. I want to create a server 2016 DC and use folder redirection for the user profiles. Does anyone Do this, is it even possible?

  16. So i think this will end up being my final build:

    CPU - 2 x E5-2670 SR0KX
    CPU Cooler - 2 x Dynatron R24
    RAM - 8 x HMT31GR7CFR4C-PB
    Controller - PERC H310
    Cables - 2 x SFF-8087
    Backplane - 3 x BPN-DE350ss
    PSU - 220-G2-0850-XR
    Case Sharkoon T9 Value
    Motherboard - MBD-X9DRL-IF-O
    USB - Cruzer Fit 16GB

Actually I am not sure that i need a narrow-ilm cooler on this motherboard - anyone have any idea?

The SATA controllers you're looking at are generally x8, so the x8 slots of the X9DRL-iF wouldn't be an issue there.  If you're planning on using VMs with hardware passthrough, though, you'd typically be using x16 video card(s) which would be a problem.

Yeah i am not sure that i would be doing any video passthrough, so i think i could get away without the x16 lanes
