problems doing a parity swap - thx in advance!
thx for the advice as always ! i was wondering if perhaps its my sata controller(s) -- over time it seems like im getting alot of the UDMC errors (?) just like this last time a drive "said" it was bad, but when i removed it and put it in a different unraid server, it performed without an issue -- this happened with that 10Tb drive just now -- wouldn't work in one server, worked fine in a different server.... i dont mind spending a few bucks and replacing the sata controller, if you think that would help, but i'm really nervous about doing it tech wise (im an idiot on this stuff) and not even sure what would be best to replace it with..... thoughts? thx in advance mark

problems doing a parity swap - thx in advance!
ok, so i put everything back the way it was and parity rebuild went fine (on arc2) -- attached diagnostics i used the SAME 10tb drive that just "ground out" for 3 days on arc2 and tried to put it into a different unraid server (unraid1) thhis went fine - without issues -- so i'm thinjking it isn't issues with the 10tb drive - ive attached daigs for this server as well (unraid1) when arc2 was just grinding for a couple days, i tried to create diagnostics but it wouldnt create it, it tried -- but overall just sat there -- i took a screen grab of this - perhaps it will help... hope some of this helps - not sure of my next steps thx mark archive2-diagnostics-20240102-0759.zip unraid1-diagnostics-20240102-0802.zip

problems doing a parity swap - thx in advance!
1st off, i know enuff to be dangerous, but that's about it. I had a friend that has moved far away that set all this up for me, and i'm stumped. i've used the https://docs.unraid.net/legacy/FAQ/parity-swap-procedure/ switching out a 4tb with a 12tb new drive 1st time it went to 27% and just sat there for 3 days i kept the old drive i was replacing intact, so i had to hard boot (using the web gui - it wouldn't let me stop the array or do anything) and replaced back with the original 4tb drive rebuilt parity back to original status, this went fine tried again - same steps -- it got to 3 % and sat for 4 days -- had to do a hard reset - put the old 4tb back in and redid parity -- this worked fine tried a different 10tb drive -- it got to 1% and sat for 2 days -- so im currently doing it all back over again with the 4tb drive to get me back to where i was 3 weeks ago BTW - i tried to download diagnostics while it was trying to copy to the new parity drive but it would not create a ZIP FILE - but i have attached the diagnostics from today when i started the parity rebuild with the old 4tb drive -- i've attached this file thx in advance for your help, as i'm stumped and not that swift with all this Mark archive2-diagnostics-20231231-1236.zip

help - stalled parity swap procedure - thx in advance!
Thank you so much for the help! when i took off the case, i realized the sata controller hooked to the malfunctioning drive was a multi pin breakout cable (1 to 4 breakout Internal Mini SAS to SATA Cable), so i had to order a replacement. will update when it comes in. i'll try replacing the cable 1st, but i'd like to go ahead and order a replacement card, if they aren't too expensive as well, to go ahead and have a backup piece of hardware. I guess i should mention that i had some one much smarter than me set all this up. I am only used to dealing with the web gui and know nothing about setting anything up via direct access / old school c prompt kinda stuff Sooooo.... i'm a bit confused about which sata controller i need to purchase that will fit my old old Motherboard, as it looks like the 4 port obne in your updated list won't work for this MB. I'm not very smart when it comes to hardware. https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B85M-P33-V2/Gallery#lg=1&slide=1 thx again for the help and perhaps suggesting which card i should get to replace my current one that will fit my MB? mark

help - stalled parity swap procedure - thx in advance!
thank you so much for your replies! a follow up question if i may..... I only use my unraid servers for data storage, ie, they only run when i'm uploading or downloading files -- i've been having issues over the past year or so with unraid telling me i have a bad drive (red mark) - when i remove the drive, all the hard drive tools i use say the drive is good (see attached as an example) i'm pretty nervous about going in and replacing my sata controller, as it seems like that's where most of my recent probs are coming from -- but if i need to do so, i will. that's just a bit above my skill set. just trying to fx this solution once and for all thoughts for best way to move forward for the long run? in the meantime- i will boot down, replace the sata cable and re-start the parity swap procedure thx again for your help! help - stalled parity swap procedure - thx in advance!
hello, having an issue with a parity swap procedure -- i had a drive say it was bad, tried to reconstruct it - failed again, so i replaced, but only drive i had left was a 14tb, and my parity was only a 12tb, so i had to use the parity swap procedure https://wiki.unraid.net/The_parity_swap_procedure -- when i came back to check it a few hours later, 17% of the copy process was done, when i check ed the next morning, still only 17% done - and it has just stuck there. not sure what i should do -- i have attached diagnostics -- please note - i'm sorta an idiot when it comes to this stuff -- ie i know just enough to be dangerous thx in advance for your help, as i'm a bit nervous on how to best proceed mark unraid1-diagnostics-20230529-0653.zip
