  1. Setting the custom option instead of PIA worked for me. I'd already updated the .conf files. Thank you!
  2. Getting a VPN connection error on PIA so can't acess WebUI. I Updated Deluge Doccker and installed new Cert from PIA. Tried several .ovpn configs from PIA for different servers but still same message. What does this error mean? Suggestions to fix welcomed. 2020-05-13 19:34:23,375 DEBG 'watchdog-script' stderr output: terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::bad_weak_ptr' what(): bad_weak_ptr
  3. Thanks for that info, I only closed once and the transfer did not complete. I do a monthly 1TB file copy to USB drive from my syncthing folder so I'll give it another try next month to see what I was doing wrong.
  4. As I have previously mentioned Dolphin & Krusader are clunky relics which are horrible to use. If a browser based docker is impractical then a true remote desktop access file manager docker would be fine or even better as a native service.
  5. No, I was actually thinking of something that runs like a modern file explorer or at least like the old Windows Total Commander.
  6. I so use Krusader and sometimes the performance is really good but inconsistent especially when moving or copying large amounts of data which can take many more hours than for example; copying the same data within a Windows server running on lesser hardware. Strange when you think about it, Unraid as a storage/NAS OS but doesn't have a reliable fast and full featured file mover. Sitting at your client unable to close the Krusader tab for 15 hours or close the client machine is far from a good solution.
  7. I have the same problem with 2 x 4TB WD USB 3 external drives: Bus 1 --> 0000:00:14.0 (IOMMU group 3) Bus 001 Device 004: ID 046d:c248 Logitech, Inc. G105 Gaming Keyboard Bus 001 Device 003: ID 8087:0a2b Intel Corp. Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0781:5581 SanDisk Corp. Ultra Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub Bus 2 --> 0000:00:14.0 (IOMMU group 3) Bus 002 Device 006: ID 1058:25e2 Western Digital Technologies, Inc. My Passport (WD40NMZW) Bus 002 Device 005: ID 1058:25e2 Western Digital Technologies, Inc. My Passport (WD40NMZW) Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub I don't have any other USB controllers so cannot pass through the entire controller (micro ATX MB). Unfortunately I don't have the Linux chops to be able to make a coherent feature request. If I did it would be something along the lines of querying the usb device for unique Id parameters i.e.: Then allowing selection of a unique identifying parameter like "serial" to make a selection, I don't really have another $125 to spend on a different model/brand drive so that's not really an option.
  8. @trurl Copying as in duplicating the contents of 1 folder to another in the same server.
  9. @avpap Thanks, I discovered that by chance but nice to see a rootshare would solve it. In my case I had the share I was copying out of mapped in Windows but it still recognizes the unmapped share I was copying into as being on the same server and copies very quickly. BTW Currently trying to copy 1TB of data onto a 4TB USB 3.0 HDD using Krusader and only 33% complete after 7 hours (first 3 minutes were very fast) and people wonder why we want a proper file manager in unRaid.
  10. Why is this still an outstanding request after all these years? It's just a very common and convenient NIC these days and as such unRaid should see it out of the box so to speak.
  11. I agree, I would imagine the typical usage case for unRaid is that there will be more shares than users on any given system so this would be much easier to manage.
  12. I can confirm I've seen the same pattern, sometimes it is faster to copy files from share1 to share2 using Windows File Explorer on an AC WiFi connected PC than use the Krusader docker which can't be right or am I missing something?
  13. @sailfish I already have my Windows user account and unRaid account set up with necessary passwords and permissions for shares but the problem persists. I have an inkling that this issue is how Win 10 handles the Domain Master Browser rather than an unRaid issue, probably something to do with this: Master Browser Service broken after Creator update - Microsoft
  14. Thank you @imunchonsmurfs I had this happen about about 6 months ago on my gaming laptop where I could not see my \\TOWER shares in windows file explorer, I worked out this fix and promptly forgot about it until today when none of my other 4 Windows 10 Pro PC's could see \\TOWER. Step by Step Open File Explorer Click on Network in the side bar Type the server address and known share into the address bar i.e. \\Tower\Media The contents of the share will be displayed and the server will be visible in the network section on the sidebar Right Click on the server and select 'Pin to Quick access' The sever and all shares are now accessible in the Quick access sidebar of File Explorer.
  15. Thanks for the quick replies. @CHBMB I think you might be onto something with the share authentication from Windows even though I'm on 8.1 Pro. After a restarting Windows the shares on the array came back but the Unassigned device share was still asking for authentication so maybe it's something that has been pushed to the earlier version in an update. @danioj Thanks for the advice I will try the new plugin. To be honest the suggested thread has 3 pages of stuff that just goes above my linux noobish head and I was not sure the problem was even connected to the plug-in however you are correct that it is an Unassigned Devices thread rather than a plugin thread so I'm happy for the mods to merge if that's better for the site.
  16. @danioj I haven't pinned it down yet and now it seems like it might be SMB related as can't access other drives. Could you please edit your post in case potential helpers mistakenly redirect to other post. Thanks.
  17. Problem 1 I have a WD 1TB external USB3 drive NTFS formatted that I cannot access through the shares. I am using plugin Unassigned Devices gfjardim 2015.11.18 and unRAID 6.1.3 I see the drive in Unassigned Devices and select share and mount options, I can see the drive is shared in Windows but it asked for Network Credentials when I tried to access it. I have tried machinename\$username and password for both root and the single other user I have set up but I still cannot access the share. Update: Lost access to all shares now on from main PC and on laptop which now wants authentication for all SMB shares public and private. Using Win 8.1 Pro 64bit Problem 2 I have a Windows 8.1 Pro VM on my UnRaid server, it works well for gaming and as a media center so I'm happy that it's set up okay. If I try to assign the Unassigned Drive to the VM by ticking the box [Western Digital Technologies, Inc. My Passport Ultra (WDBZFP)] to update the VM xml but the VM will not see this drive. I can see no device error on the VM, do I need to install additional drivers or add anything to the XML. All usb ports are 3.0.
  18. @madmanmike The Bluetooth is detected but device won't start with native Windows drivers so you might have some luck with the Gigabyte drivers. I don't really need Bluetooth so I didn't bother myself.
  19. I purchased this board as it was the only ITX motherboard readily available at my local stores that had 6 onboard SATA connectors so it seemed like a good basis for building my home unRAID system. GA-H170N-WIFI Specs. Intel H170 Express Chipset 2 x DDR4 DIMM sockets supports up to 2133MHz memory modules 1 x DVI-D port, supporting a maximum resolution of 1920x1200@60 Hz 2 x HDMI ports, supporting a maximum resolution of 4096x2160@24 Hz r HDMI 1.4 Maximum shared memory of 512 MB 1 x Realtek ALC1150 codec 2 x Intel GbE LAN chips (10/100/1000 Mbit) 1 x Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, supporting 2.4/5 GHz Dual-Band / BLUETOOTH 4.2, 4.1, BLE, 4.0, 3.0, 2.1+EDR 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (PCI-e 3.0) 1 x M.2 Socket 1 connector for the wireless communication module (M2_WIFI) 1 x M.2 Socket 3 connector on the back of the motherboard 2 x SATA Express connectors 6 x SATA 6Gb/s connectors 2 x USB 2.0/1.1 ports available through the internal USB header 6 x USB 3.0/2.0 ports (4 ports on the back panel, 2 ports available through the internal USB header) 1 x USB Type-C™ port on the back panel, with USB 3.0 support I selected the cheapest processor I could find, an i3 6100 with 2 cores and 2 hyper-threads, 3 WD 2TB NAS drives, 1WD 1TB Black, and 2 old 160GB 2.5" drives I had hanging around to use as cache drives. For memory I used a set of F4-2400C15D-16GRR - G.Skill for 16GB total RAM. For my VGA card as I was hoping to do some gaming was an old 2GB Radeon HD 260X card, the final item I used was a Thermaltake Bronze 80% 500w power supply. The build was not easy as I first thought as the Bitfinex Prodigy case I used needed to be reconfigured to accommodate the VGA card and owing to the location of 4 of the SATA ports I had to dig around in my box of bits to find 2 more SATA cables which have a sightly shorter connector as only 2 were supplied with the mainboard, apart from that given the form factor I had no issues with the motherboard layout. The UEFI bios is straight forward and it was easy to find the visualization settings and set the USB as default boot drive though I must admit I do prefer the old style bios interfaces. unRAID booted up and detected everything without a hitch and has been stable for about a week, I have set up a Windows 8.1 Pro VM allocated 3 or the 4 available cores and 8GB of RAM and am now enjoying playing Fallout 4 on my ancient living room plasma at 720p. The only issue I had was that the MB defaulted to using the PCI-e graphics card as primary display and I had to manually set the internal cpu 530 as the default graphics device. I'm very happy with with the motherboard for the price, it's just a shame that I can't seem to get the Bluetooth working in the Windows VM or utilise the 2nd GBE NIC and wireless ac adaptor. The only problem for me is that getting a decent amount of cpu cores to run lot's of VM's and dockers is expensive (I7 6700) vs the AMD FX cpu's although the Intel offerings are impressive regarding performance and low power draw.
  20. Just had this problem after adding a graphics card so now the config is GPU1:VNC, GPU2:Nvidia but I can't use VNC or get the the graphics card working. This is annoying as I've already activated Win 8.1 Pro so don't want to tear down the VM just to fix this. EDIT:Found the password field in the GUI phew!!
  21. Well I think I'll leave the AD integration for a long weekend, plenty of other stuff to explore in the meantime.
  22. @smdion Thank you so much for the link, nice clear and concise step by step instructions. I'm being lazy now but is there anything to prevent a Win2012R2 AD server being hosted on an unRAID VM? No need to go into details just need to know if it's doable before diving in.
  23. Hi my 1st post here and I wanted to introduce myself and give feedback 24 hours experience with unRAID. My background is purely MS systems hardware, software and consultancy from the early days of MS DOS 2.x/IBM-XT onward so Linux based systems are a complete mystery to me. Initially I was looking for an OTS (off the shelf) NAS unit from either Synology or QNAP but was deterred by the cost of anything they were offering with more than 2 drive bays so enter the idea of a home build and unRAID. I bought and built a small Intel Skylake based ITX system capable of handling 6 x 3.5 hdd's and 16GB ram. The initial setup was simplicity itself however doing almost anything else was a steep learning curve and I found the documentation to be dry and stuffed with terms which I had no reference for, my MS imprinted brain was of some use where I could work out the parallels other than that I was in total noob territory, I was beginning to see why the retail NAS boxes carried such a premium. I carried on and was able to install some Docker apps to make life easier, Plex, Syncthing and Dolphin and I have to say a big thank you to the community who make and actively support these plugins My next goal was to get a Windows VM up and running but once again the documentation was dry and somewhat obtuse then I found this post here http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=43507.0, this video was perfect in terms of understanding the overall concept and steps required to get a VM up and running (let alone 2 simultaneously running gaming VM's). Anyway I've got to the stage where I've got my unRAID box working and usable, syncing from my seed box, media and storage server for my condo but in all honesty I'll probably have to tear it all down and start again applying lessons and limitations learnt (so far). Okay let me come on to my pros and cons of unRAID based on just 24 hours of use. Cons: Not easy for a non Linux experienced user Documentation is dry and full of unfamiliar nomenclature for the average person User generated Youtube tutorials are mostly as the point above dry and expecting you to know the lingo(exception Linus vid linked) Demo limitations are not helpful because ideally you want some sort of parity and a cache drive limiting the demo to 3 HDD/SSD means you can't setup a proper usable test system. Surely you want to have minimum 2 data drives so you can pull one for test? Also would be nice to have assigned drives (NTFS,FAT32) in the box for data transfer. No support for wireless No out the box support for 2nd NIC or teaming No USB boot drive mirroring No native support for VPN's or NTFS out the box. Default security for both LAN and WAN connections is non-existent (this is probably outside the scope of what unRAID offers but considering what unRAID is capable of it is worth thinking about Can't find AD support anywhere even though claimed to support A personal one.. Can't buy licence key with bitcoin! Many apps lack of basic functionality description in Docker Pros: Simple, easy initial install Easy to use NAS functionality Great community support for plugins, docker apps Great virtualization Inexpensive Engaged development team NAS uses any size HDD/SSD with parity and without waste Huge game changing potential In summary I would say unRAID has got me excited insomuch as it has the potential to be a viable consumer and enterprise environment which puts control back into the users hands. Secure access everywhere via browser, mobile app needs to be part of the package sooner rather than later and if possible a tickbox config screen for default basics such as VPN, torrents, file explorer, media server, sync, backup, etc. Any comments are welcome as is advice on mitigation of my cons list.
