Hi guys, Quick question: I was on a trip and had turned the server off. When I came back the monthly parity check was not run according to schedule. I finally decided to do a parity and DO NOT correct on the 55th day. Parity was never completed because errors were detected on a drive and the drive was disabled. I finally turned the tower off and started clean where the Smart check gave me this: === START OF READ SMART DATA SECTION === SMART overall-health self-assessment test result: PASSED General SMART Values: Offline data collection status: (0x00) Offline data collection activity was never started. Help needed - Red dot
Darkoverlord replied to Darkoverlord's topic in General Support (V5 and Older)
I am following the shrink array instructions. Just to confirm: When I reassign all the drives, I reassign them exactly as they were before? Meaning that my disk 3 will be removed and not used when I assign all the drives? In this case Parity will be parity, disk 1 will be assigned to disk one, disk 4 to disk 4 and disk 7 to disk 7? With disk 3 being blank. Thanks! -

Hi Guys, I got myself an SSD drive yesterday and once installed, I decided to add 3 more drives in the array. When the drives started formatting after I run 3 rounds of preclear on each, I started closing the case by screwing the screws in the end. Stupid move, as my elbow pressed the power button. Once restarted I got a red dot next to drive 3. I unmounted it and remounted and let the drive rebuilt. As it seems I was not a good move either since I got yet another time the red dot next to the drive. Now I will have to remove the drive, but given that I just installed the new drives, I have none left. Hence I would need to move one of the new drives (they are totally empty), into the place of the 3rd drive. Could someone guide me on how to do it, since I believe, if I just unassign the drive, this means that 2 drives will be missing? Attached syslog and printscreen. I am using version 5.0.5 Thanks in advance for all the help! syslog.txt

HowTo: Centralize Your XBMC Library with MySQL
Darkoverlord replied to hernandito's topic in User Customizations
One question on this. If i use SNAP and install a 16GB USB stick, is it possible to centralize the library there in order to avoid waking a disk every time any of my machines needs to use the data? Would it severely affect the speed of navigating through the library? -
Hello all! Before I order my pro key I would like if someone could check my syslog and tell me if everything looks ok. There are some errors in the end. I suspect they come from a drive that I already precleared 3 cycles but haven't yet added to the array. It is connected to a Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 card. Thanks in advance! syslog-2012-04-08.txt

First build - quiet test unraid

After 3 rounds of memory checks and 2 rounds of preclear server is up and running. Getting 50MB/s without parity drive. Is that normal or should I be expecting more? Thanks! -

Hi, Can someone check my preclear results for all 3 drives? Thanks! Preclear.txt -
All parts have arrived now and this is how the server is comprised: OS at time of building: unRAID 4.7 Basic CPU: Atom 330 Motherboard: ASRock A330ION Intel Atom 330 RAM: Kingston ValueRAM (2 x 2GB) DDR3 Case: Fractal Design XL Drive Cage(s): none added Power Supply: CORSAIR Enthusiast Series™ TX650 V2 — 80 PLUS® SATA Expansion Card(s): None so far but Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 will be on the way Cables: Basic SATA cables Fans: all fans came with the Fractal case. Parity Drive: Samsung HD204UI 2TB Data Drives: 2x Samsung HD204UI 2TB Primary Use: Movies, TV, mp3s, photos, Likes: quiet, Very low power Dislikes: Not silent (Will work on that), looks a bit big Add Ons Used: unMenu Future Plans: Go to the Pro license Sorry no pictures yet! So far I have passed 3 memory tests (I hope it is a satisfactory number) and I am on my 1st preclear as we speak. Since I am not experienced on unraid, I would like to post my syslog so that you more experienced guys can check out if everything is ok. Also i will try to post my preclear results for the same reason. Also my intention is to get the motherboard to the compatible hardware list by passing at least level 1 of certification. One final thing. The fan on the mobo is quite loud compared to the other components. If I unplug it (since it is the fan for the video card), is it safe? Or should I try to install a more silent fan? Thanks in advace for any help and comments!

Hi! As the question states? What are they? How can they be connected to internal SATA drives and how can they be added to the array? Thanks!

I have trouble with receiving the MB so i am thinking of cancelling the order. Do you guys think that this is a good option? It is cheap, has 6 SATAIII on board and uses the Realtek 8111E NIC. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131732&cm_re=E35M1-I-_-13-131-732-_-Product Edit: The PCIe x16 slot works on x4 mode as it happens with all AMD boards. Would that be a problem for any Supermicro controller for adding 8 more SATA ports? Thanks!
