Hi guys,

Quick question: I was on a trip and had turned the server off. When I came back the monthly parity check was not run according to schedule. I finally decided to do a parity and DO NOT correct on the 55th day. Parity was never completed because errors were detected on a drive and the drive was disabled. I finally turned the tower off and started clean where the Smart check gave me this:

Can this drive be trusted to be re assigned? I am using version 5.0.6

Thanks!

Best would be to rebuild to another drive, then preclear this one to see if you can clear the pending sector and then you could reuse it.

Also possible that rebuilding to the same drive would clear the pending sector so if you don't have another you could try that.

That's all assuming that you don't have another drive on the edge of failing. You might what to check SMART on all of them if you haven't lately.

If you upgraded to V6 it would be a lot easier to diagnose your whole system, and it would also notify when things were starting to deteriorate.
