  1. Email Notifications:

    default setting: every 60 minutes.. status update + possible warning when discs are getting to hot.

    could you please change that so that we ONLY receive emails when something goes wrong? and than instantly?

    I find myself deleting notification emails every hour although everything is fine :)

    thank you!

    I have "email frequency" set to 1440 minutes (1 day). This sends me an OK status email only once a day, but I still get an email anytime something changes on the server, such as going over temp, stopping the array, etc. So I think you just need to increase email frequency to a larger value and you will still get the critical ones immediately. I think I may have read that you can set it to zero if you don't want any OK status emails.

  2. Another good tool for picking parts is PCPartPicker. Might seem a little overwhelming at first, and it doesn't specifically address unRAID compatibility, but it will help you check whether your selected CPU, mobo, memory are compatible, let you compare specs and prices between components and also check prices from different sources.

  3. I have found another workaround besides using a different web browser. Use a different web server!

    If you are running SimpleFeatures webserver, put a page on that web that redirects to your headphones page.

    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Headphones</title>
    <meta http-equiv="REFRESH" content="0;url=http://10.0.0.11:8084/home"></HEAD>
    <BODY>
    Redirecting to Headphones
    </BODY>
    </HTML>

    Where I have

    url=http://10.0.0.11:8084/home

    put whatever url you have for your headphones setup. Then you can just bookmark the redirect page.

  4. My thought would be to put the original drive back in disk 2 and then see if I could get the red ball to go away on disk 5. unRAID is not going to do a drive upgrade with an invalid configuration anyway. Maybe if you could get to that point you would just have invalid parity and all your data would be intact.

    Like I said, wait on a reply from someone who knows what they are talking about better than me.

  5. Had my first monthly parity check after upgrading from 4.7 last night. Was pleasantly surprised to find that it was just finishing when I got up this morning. With 4.7 it had never finished before I had to leave for work.

    Don't have any exact numbers but probably 8-9 hours under 4.7 and now 6.5 hours on 5rc8a. No hardware changes.

    Loving all the plugins.

  6. So in your set up using an APC UPS, the UPS gives a shutdown command to the Unraid server via USB, and in tern the apcupsd sends a shutdown command to the PC via LAN? Is this based on the PC running Windows 7? Also generally my HTPC is in S3 most of the day, how would that effect it?

    Yes that is how it works and I am running Windows 7 on the PC. apcupsd has a system tray notifier on the PC and it tells me when unRAID signals a change with the UPS. Haven't tested it with S3 yet.

  7. What I have come across now seems to say that apcupsd can run on the htpc as a master and a second device as a slave, but #1 does the unraid version have this option and #2 does anyone have this working with a non APC UPS.

    Have not tried this with non APC UPS but I can confirm that master/slave works. I have the UPS data connected to my unRAID box and my PC is also running apcupsd but it is set to get the data over the network from unRAID (router is also on the UPS).

  8. Strange thing

    /mnt/cache/Dropbox/Nzb didnt work

    But i also have user and user0 under mnt

    I tried /mnt/user/Dropbox/Nzb and now it works

    I dunno where user and user0 under mnt come from..

    If I remember correctly:

    /mnt/user is your shares (including whatever is currently cached)

    /mnt/user0 is your shares without the contents that are still cached

    so assuming that you have a share named Dropbox and it is set to cache only I think you have it just the way you are trying to get it.

  9. Mm so i cant let my ipad play it on receiver using airplay?

    I went ahead and registered at yamaha just so I could read your receiver's manual.

    On page 53 of the English pdf it mentions playing from a NAS with DLNA. There is a DLNA package for unRAID. You won't get the iTunes user interface this way, but it should work.

    On page 58 of the English pdf it shows that you can play music from an iPad with iOS 4.3.3 or later if it is connected to the same router as your receiver.

    So, if you can work out how to play music on your iPad from your unRAID then you probably can play it on the receiver using the iPad as the player.

  10. Probably the logitech extender is needed to convert logitech rf into the appropriate ir, but there are plenty of ir extenders on the market and I would think they would probably work since in that case the remote would just be sending ir. Google ir remote extender.

    I also have a dinovo mini. It is definitely rf of some sort, don't remember if it's bluetooth or some other wireless protocol.

    IR only works with line-of-sight, although sometimes reflections allow it to hit the receiver with some obstructions. Most of my components are behind frosted glass and IR works just fine.

  11. Also, a touchscreen is certainly cool, but you kind of have to look at it to operate it. Other Harmony models have real buttons that you can operate by feel without taking your eyes off the TV. Maybe something to consider.

  12. Just looked at the 1100 on Logitech site. I'm sure it does IR. It also has the capability to control hidden IR devices with an RF extender.

    Most devices only do IR so if it did not do IR it would not be able to control most devices.

    My HTPC has Wake on USB, so if you can get that to work a Harmony should work to wake your computer if it is using a USB IR receiver.
