  1. I have a docker application that needs the Linux-IO modules https://docs.storageos.com/docs/prerequisites/systemconfiguration. Anyone have an idea how I can install them? Thanks, Jamie
  2. Ok so I updated the Windows build and now my disk speed seems to ok. I did a quick test by downloading a game from steam, when steam was allocating drive space Task Manager reported 1GB/s. That looks right for two cache SSD's right?
  3. So what could be affecting the VM? Also surely it's not right due to the scaling of 4GB, anything over 320MB (1% of 32GB) should have around the same speed? I also went the opposite way
  4. I set them both to 1% tried a 8GB transfer and I still get silly speeds. Just in case you don't know from the diagnostics I have 32GB RAM.
  5. I installed the Dynamix SSD Trim as soon as you mentioned it I tried again with 4GB but it still doesn't look right. I then used a real file keeping in mind the read speed of that disk that the iso is stored on is around that number (disk 1), it's a cheap NAS drive In terms of the power cycle it is probably that I don't keep my machine on at all times, I only use unRAID for 2 gamers 1 pc and do a far few restarts due to software development work.
  6. Could any settings cause it too? E.g. Windows power settings or BIOS? Ok I did this, it doesn't look right though I didn't realise that I had to explicitly turn trimming on.
  7. I've not noticed any problems with my power supply (I doubt that I have). I used the DiskSpeed plugin and got from what I can tell are normal results: I don't really understand what a power cycle is?
  8. Sorry I thought I posted the diagnostics. The screenshot is at idle, the only task I was running was searching for a graphics driver and even when that task was complete it was the same story. You can see here the process that is using the most disk usage and it little to nothing. tower-diagnostics-20180826-0156.zip
  9. Hi All, I have set my domains share to only use the cache drives, although on my VM I get really bad disk speeds My drivers are up to date, I have no idea what's happening. Jamie
  10. Ok so what would you say the best storage setup would be for this? I have two SSD's 250GB each and one HDD 2TB. I essentially want to do two gamers one PC, would I have the SSD JBOD or Mirrored? Baring in mind that I would like to have the VM's v-disk cached and at least one large game (I think the largest game I have is 100GB) with the best performance. Or if you'd have any other suggestions? I've seen some stuff on BTRFS and snapshotting, so I could snapshot the v-disk and still customise the data to a per VM basis? E.g. if I had one program installed on the one and not the other.
  11. Ohh ok, I thought that the array was supposed to work like JBOD
  12. Hi itimpi, I can't see an option for "Split Level over-rides", I'm guessing that the option is only when you create the VM although I couldn't see the option there either. I'm guessing you get less performance using this method too? If using more than one VM.
  13. So after deleting something on the problematic VM, it booted so it was a BTRFS problem. Although I'm I am only using 100gb when I set it to 220gb and the data isn't being passed over to the other device in the drive array e.g. drive 1 is full and drive 2 is pretty much empty. How would I go about it spreading the data over the drives? I thought it automatically did this.
  14. I added pcie_acs_override=id:1b21.1242,id:8086.8d26,id:8086.8d2d,id:8086.8d31 Although only one of the devices shows in the "Other PCIe devices" list. Any ideas?
  15. I had about 100GB left. I was sure to give it a lot of space.
  16. Hi all, I just recently turned on my VM and gone to uninstall a game (Uplay), when I clicked uninstall game I had a popup asking me to install the .net 4.0 feature. Whilst doing so I noticed that the VM had paused itself (not completing the .net install), I couldn't unpause or stop the VM either. So I forcefully stopped the vm and started it again, although on the startup I got to the Windows spinner and the machine paused itself. I can't get it to do anything else. I can't seem to see any errors, I had attached my diagnostics. tower-diagnostics-20180522-2042.zip
  17. Sorry it turns out it was because of the TV that I was using. It must have high response time.
  18. Hi All, I have two virtual machines with the exact same setup: 14gb RAM, 8 logical CPU's Titan X Although I have one VM that uses up little to no resources idle with a fair bit of input lag from mouse and controllers. The other VM uses a bit more resources and low input lag. I can't figure out what's up with it, any ideas? Thank you, Jamie
  19. I fixed my issue by attempting to load the drive bare metal and when Windows got to the repair stage I took these steps: 1. Select troubleshoot. 2. Advanced Options. 3. Startup Settings. 4. Options 6 "Disable Driver signature enforcement". When the system restarted I was able to login and all I had to do then was open CMD via (Windows key + R) and type CMD click ok and enter the following commands: 1. "bcdedit /deletevalue {current} safeboot". 2. "shutdown /r /t 0". And it was running like normal.
  20. I figured it out I still have a couple of problems though, I set my primary v-disk to use the interface SATA and I passed through another storage device with the interface VertIO. I then installed the VertIO driver and shutdown the VM when the installation was complete, changed the primary v-disk back to VertIO and on the next boot it works. The problem is that I can't boot into my drive if I wanted to boot it without it being attached to a VM (bare metal). I do notice a lot of errors in the log though: smbus: error: Unexpected read in state -1 smbus: error: Unexpected NACK in state -1 smbus: error: Unexpected NACK in state -1 smbus: error: Unexpected recv start condition in state 3 smbus: error: Unexpected read in state -1 smbus: error: Unexpected NACK in state -1 smbus: error: Unexpected NACK in state -1 smbus: error: Unexpected recv start condition in state 3 smbus: error: Unexpected read in state -1 smbus: error: Unexpected NACK in state -1 smbus: error: Unexpected NACK in state -1 smbus: error: Unexpected recv start condition in state 3 smbus: error: Unexpected read in state -1 smbus: error: Unexpected NACK in state -1 smbus: error: Unexpected NACK in state -1 smbus: error: Unexpected recv start condition in state 3 smbus: error: Unexpected read in state -1 smbus: error: Unexpected NACK in state -1 smbus: error: Unexpected NACK in state -1 smbus: error: Unexpected recv start condition in state 3 smbus: error: Unexpected read in state -1 smbus: error: Unexpected NACK in state -1 smbus: error: Unexpected NACK in state -1 smbus: error: Unexpected recv start condition in state 3 smbus: error: Unexpected read in state -1 smbus: error: Unexpected NACK in state -1 smbus: error: Unexpected NACK in state -1
  21. Thanks guys, not really the solution that I was after. Hopefully there is a alternative sometime in the future. Much appreciated though :).
  22. Hi all, I'm trying to pass through an existing Windows 10 drive, I have set up the VM and passed through my drive in place of the primary v-disk like so "/dev/disk/by-id/diskid". Now if I try running this I get the Windows loading screen although it fails to start, the only explanation I can think of is that the VertIO drivers are not installed. I can get into the drive the native route and install what I need, although I have no idea how to install the drivers. Which I am presuming that you have to copy them to a specific place due to no .exe installer (bearing in mind I can't install via device manager due to the virtual devices not being there). I notice that it does work when I set the primary v-disks interface to be SATA rather than VertIO, but I believe that VertIO is better? I hear that it is faster. Thanks, Jamie
