  1. solved it - you put me on the right track. many many thanks i figured out how to create a group called foundry, and specified a gid of 421, and added myself to it. if anyone else suffers the same probelem, i used: groupadd -g -421 foundry usermod -a -G foundry <myusername> I don't think i'll ever become a linux admin at this rate! Thanks again Nox
  2. sorry to be a pain, i haven't got a foundry group on my system. An ls -l lists the following: drwxrwxrw- 1 421 421 8 Aug 20 06:18 FoundryVTT/ my usersname isn't 421. i figured it might be the UID, but don't have an account linked to that either. I'm not overly great with Linux, so am probably being a bit of a plum... is there an easy fix?
  3. absolutely bang on with that - i have put it back into my user folder, but i can't see the files with my account. but i can with root. now i just need to figure out how to make is so i can see them without breaking Foundry.... Thanks for the help so far
  4. I have my 'Game Data Path:' set to "/mnt/user/appdata/FoundryVTT/" (without the quotes) but when I browse to that share in windows I don't see the files. Do I need to specify server name or something?
  5. Just looking at similar, but the thunderbolt 1u racks are so expensive. That datoptic one but with thunderbolt 2 was around half the price :( Wondering if something like QNAP TR-004U would work with new USB, but reviews are only for the older model showing it slower that it should be. :( Whatever goes in needs to be 'short' and I only have 1u space.
  6. Having a nightmare with this too. I did have it working ages ago, with a dumped BIOS. Since then i've switched to UEFI boot, and am trying to run this on an X99E-ITX - single slot motherboard, no onboard GPU. Tried both OMVF & SeaBIOS (the latter ran really slowly) Do ATI cards 'just work' or do they have similar issues?
  7. Thanks for updating the docker to 5.8.28 Nox
  8. Yeah that's pretty much what I figured I have 5.8.28 installed, the latest downloadable from ubqt is 5.8.24, so i think i've just hit really bad timing with even the unstable not being up to date enough. Will revisit at the weekend when it may be up to date/i have more time to get my head round this/have a poke around.
  9. Ah so hiding in a link of a link, rather than actually linked on the first page. Thanks. I'm not overly familiar with GitHub/dockers if i'm honest, unraid is my first foray into that world. One :unstable branch docker later & still won't let me load my config file, which was only to try to circumvent it not finding my device when scanning. Might be easier to leave it in it's own debian vm at this rate. ho hum.
  10. Except any that are for a readme. Maybe you want to check the first post? Which returns me to my second question of: Where is the readme? Please prove me wrong, as I would like to restore my backup file, although at this rate I could of downgraded my controller software faster...
  11. Thanks, I did I try looking for one, but there is not one mentioned in the initial post of this thread, just a comment asking folks to ask questions here. Maybe my question should of been 'Where is the readme?' as i did see in mentioned quite often...
  12. How can I update this controller version to 5.8.28 (so it's compatible with my backup files)
  13. I would not think lack of activation is the issue. Have you tried dumping the card BIOS and passing that through? (it's actually really easy, just sounds bad!) youtube search for 'spaceinvader one' and follow his guide (clearest one I found)
  14. Check device manager, code 43? Are you using Unraid v6.4 UEFI?
  15. I went 6.3.5 - there is no UEFI option. The bios dump needs you to connect to the unraid server using something like putty, so you can RDP onto your VM and run putty from there but it's probably easier just to putty to the unraid server This then dumps the file onto the unraid server, which is perfect. Pretty sure I set to SeaBIOS, boots up with Tianocore. I can check but not this second It's whatever was in the guide. After that, just run the update to 6.4 - you get all the new features but will remain as BIOS by default on your vm (and thus still works fine).
  16. Spaceinvader One (forum name is gridrunner i think) has some amazing guides on youtube, including a GPU passthrough guide. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZDfnUn74N0WeAPvMqTOrtA It was his guide that got me up and running. I'd suggest dumping your own BIOS, rather than using a downloaded one. Also I could not get it working under 6.4 (pre relase candidate) so used 6.3.5. I have just upgraded to 6.4 and it still seems fine, but i've not made the switch to UEFI. For some reason I feel there is a problem with UEFI and nvidia GPU passthough right now (only because of my issues with the pre release candidate one one random post on these forums) I would love to know if anyones up and running with 6.4 UEFI that before I make the switch.
  17. I tried out the UEFI 6.4 pre release images back before I bought and went stable. I could not get nvidia passthrough to work at all on anything except one of the linux distros (I think ubuntu) I switched to 6.3.5 and everything was fine. I upgraded yesterday to 6.4 but left UEFI off, and windows at least is still fine, but I'm holding back switching to UEFI because of earlier problems. Will check my linux vm's tonight, but it might be worth disabling UEFI if you enabled that when you switched.
  18. figured it out - don't use the new UEFI version 6.4. Works fine with 6.35
  19. working absolutely 100% fine if i switch it to VNC or use the 970 with an ubuntu vm
  20. getting the same - as rock x99 motherboard & nvidia 970 (only) been browsing a lot of videos on this - the dumping rom and editing the xml seemed to make it worse (the vm went into recovery mode so no rdp...) tried both SeaBIOS & OVMF - not sure which is most likely to work. Seabios is a black screen for AGES then i see a flash of 'boot from DVD' and it goes back into it's cycle i am using their x99e-itx (mitx board) with a view to purchasing a matx if i can get it going on this thing.
  21. Hi all I am aware Unraid supports assigning a single gpu to a single OS in a multi-gpu hardware configuration, however is this possible with something like a ati pro duo (2 GPU's on one card) If so can each system use an individual monitor
