Thunderbolt 3 External Enclosure for Array

Hi,

I've been running UnRaid for a while now and I'm looking to buy a new license and build a new rig using Ryzen 3 with Thunderbolt. I would keep my existing rig as a backup solution. The main reason I want to use TB3 is because of the convenience of the single cable, because of the physical installation, it's way easier for me to update my whole setup with a single 6 feet TB cable than managing multiple SATA cables with power.

I've been searching the forums regarding Thunderbolt support with UnRaid and I'm still a bit confused, since the answers are all over the place or the questions have not really been answered (TB is supposed to work but has not really been officially tested ?)

So basically I want to know if I can use this for the main UnRaid Array on 6.8.2 : https://www.datoptic.com/ec/thunderbolt-3-eight-bay-jbob-sas-sata-drive.html

Thank you !

Alright, I'll think about it (I also need to do some more research on 3900x + x570 to see if it works fine for gaming with GPU passthrough). My main concern was that UnRaid would not allow using devices connected via TB, but since that enclosure is supposed to be using regular JBOD / AHCI commands under the hood, I'm hoping the system would see the drives as standard HDDs directly hooked up to the server.

Thanks Johnnie !

Just looking at similar, but the thunderbolt 1u racks are so expensive. That datoptic one but with thunderbolt 2 was around half the price :(

Wondering if something like QNAP TR-004U would work with new USB, but reviews are only for the older model showing it slower that it should be. :(

Whatever goes in needs to be 'short' and I only have 1u space.
