Quick question, how do you "resolve" the nextcloud, etc. to *cloud.domain.com or cloud.duckdns.org?? what does that "resolved" mean? Plz excuse the question, I'm trying to learn and troubleshooting nextcloud/letsencrypt to be accesible from outside my network.. not successful after so many attempts...

I think I did the following: go to Shares click on appdata, should be on top Go to either AFP or SMB, whichever you have credentials setup on unraid, personally I created the same user in unraid so it matches my user in my macbook and everything seems to be easier anyways, on the Export/Enhanced OS Interoperability i selected both to Yes, And leave the Security as is (Public).. Eject/Disconnect from mounted shares on your mac or better, restart your computer.. when you connect to the network shares you a) should see the appdata share b) be able to open it and open files from within TADA!!"!

hmm looks like I'll try the infiniband...since the dl380 has 2.. and both are dual, not single port... (HP InfiniBand 4X QDR CX-2 Dual-Port 40Gb IB /10GbE PCIe Adapter) Maybe I can try to put one on the unraid box and the other on the dl380 and see if they see each other via the 10gbE.. maybe that's one affordable solution (I'll have to have them directly connected to each other I presume).. And for making the drive enclosure... so running a long mini sas (8087) breakout (usually 4x) to connect directly to the drives in the enclosure? so power supply I do have a couple psus around..could I just bypass the mb of what now is my unraid box? I mean only powering, not booting or anything? or what type of board do I need (a board that powers the drives?) do you know any?

well the g7 has two of those 10-pin, but currently only using one for the backplane of those 8 bays.. according to the diagram of the mb the other 10-pin is named sas power B.. which I'm assuming would be used if the box had the 16-bay config... i would have to buy two of those expanders? one for my unraid box and the other for the server, of course the unraid box only has 2 sata controllers for some of the drives while the others are connected to the sata ports on the mb.. i have no backplanes on the unraid because...well because I had no budget when I built that shame of a server..hehe if I was to go ghetto I would have to strip the dl380 of the mb, put it in the unraid box (4U rosewill 15 (3x5 3.5" slots)) put the sata cards and draw power from the mb from those 2 10-pin connectors (found 10-pin to 2 sata or 10-pin to sata/molex (4P)/8-pin (for GPUs)) or get the sas expander and use it for the drives... but would also need to draw power from the mb.. Looks like I'll need to either wait or do the 2 server approach..

Ok.. So I've checked the pdf, says the sas expander external link is for tape... but it can be used for connecting to another server? I think this hp dl380 that i've got has 2 single port infiniband cards already... aren't those the same as the sas 4x or mini sas 4x? but.. to the point, I think I may need to wait, I'm a little constrained on budget right now.. so the other option I might go for is keeping the unraid box that i currently have like it is, install something else on the dl380 and make the dl380 handle everything the unraid box is doing right now, which is essentialy + plex media server + vms..

Hi... I just got an HP DL380 G7, has 8-bay SFF and that is it (2U). I happen to have unRAID on another 4U box (this new one is 2U). So since I am not planning to use the backplane nor the 2.5 disks I am thinking on using this new server as my main but with the 3.5 drives. Of course this box cannot fit the 15 that the older box can (currently only 8 are populated). So you mentioned that the hp sas expander has a port on the back that can go to another array box.. I am very interested since I want to use this server as the main but with the 3.5 drives from the other box... what type of connection is it? to what can you connect it to? another hp dl? do you know what voltage comes from the onboard 10-pin sas power connectors? I also found that there are 10-pin (originally for the dl380 g5) to molex/sata/pci-e so you can use power from the mobo. I thought on moving the server to the 4U using these to power my drives and to connect them to the mb 2 or 3 pci- 4x sata cards (not raid cards)

Hi... looking for some wisdom on itunes/daap. Currently running an unraid server with 6.3.5. itunes forked-daapd apparently is running in the background. but my mac is not able to see it. Shares in unraid are SMB-only. Home sharing is enabled on itunes (12.6.1.25) and my mac is running latest Mac OSX Sierra 10.12.5 Has anyone had any luck making it work? Thanks in advance daap.txt

Hi, I'm on the process of uploading data to a share. Share is SMB, Private, I have only created one user. Access is via a Macbook Pro. Now the share is visible and can write to it provided I use of course the username and password I created with unRaid (read/write), so kind of two questions: 1) Transmission downloads stuff and moves from incomplete to complete folder without problems, when I try to move files from the complete folder to where my movies reside there is just no luck, however I am able to change filenames. 2) I have also created another share for my music that matches the name needed for my Lacie Fuel (2TB) that in case I need to use the hotspot the drive creates I don't have to switch itunes libraries and "fool" iTunes. Now, I have tried to do multiple file tag changing and it is not working but single-file tag edition does. What am I doing wrong?

OMV is Debian... mdadm is used for handling raid.. ud sees the disks but no mount option (plus signs.. etc) under fdisk -l there is no filesystem reported.. dmesg reports that VSF cannot find the ext4 filesystem.. I also tried mount -t ext4 /dev/sdwhatever to a dir I created inside mnt.. no luck.. hmmm yes I guess I'll have to upload the data from my backups (single drives.. some combination of exfat, ntfs, hfs.. I can't remember.. right now making sure all data is somewhere in the backups)

Hi... Quick question.. got the app/plugin running on unRAID 6.3.5... quick recap of my setup.. 5 brand new 3TB red drives. that i intent to use with unraid... 3x2tb that have data.. from openmediavault.. in a raid0 array...stripe.. backup of that data on 2x500gib disks plus a 1tb usb drive (samsung.. with a MB mini board. not sata.. so.. i need to mount either the array from omv to copy files once the new unraid 5x3tb array is built with the 4x1parity or 3x2parity drives.. .. any pointers? omv was created as an ext4 "filesystem"... do I have any chances of getting the data from omv?? no.. I don't have a second server... =( Thanks in advance..

Hi, Yes I'm a NOOB.. please do not scream at me.. I've tested FreeNAS/OMV and can say unRaid is by far best. Now... for my conondrum: The latest I tried was OMV ver 2. bc/ 3 is still in beta.. Now, I did create a raid for 3 x2tb drives that currently has the media on it with OVM.. now, I have already downloaded the Community Applications and the Unassigned Devices plugin.. And I have 5x3tb new drives with no media.. that I plan to create a new array with unRAID with those 5 drives, copy the media from the 3x2tb and eventually add these 3 onto the array.. now.. within the unassigned devices if I add the 5x3tb (4+1 parity) to an array I do see the rest of the 3x2tb drives with no stats and I am kinda lost on where to go from here.. how do I mount the drives so I can start copying the media from these 3 drives onto the new array (once it finishes with the pre-clear and parity sync..once it finishes)?? please... any help is appreciated..
