  1. I've got very little space left on all of my drives. I'm adding a new drive. There are multiple TV series on the existing drives for which episodes will continue to download. I'm worried that the remaining space on these drives will not be enough and I will start to encounter errors. Prior to upgrading to v6, i was able to open each disk individually in explorer and manually move seasons to the new drive to prevent this from happening. Since upgrading to v6, all I can see now is the storage pools, not the individual drives. Is there a way to either access the drives individually again or is there a utility which will aid in moving data to the new drive to better spread it out? Thanks.
  2. Ok. How often would you recommend running an extended SMART test? Can that be automated and a notification sent if there are errors?
  3. I didn't understand much of what itimpi said, but I will try to keep a better eye on things. I've attempted to turn on notifications, but for some reason I cannot set it to send me emails (the checkboxes are grey) despite having setup, tested, and confirmed working my email settings. Not sure what's going on there.
  4. Wonderful. Thanks so much for all your help. I've ordered a new drive to add expansion (what the new parity was going to be used for). Now I just have to learn how to use the dockers and try to install CouchPotato and Sonarr.
  5. Success! All drives working now. Parity is rebuilding. Is this old parity drive trash now? It is out of warranty. I'm assuming it is now physically toast and I should just dump it.
  6. Ok. I'll give it a go when the parity check completes. Possibly tonight or maybe tomorrow.
  7. I believe that it only became disabled today when I upgraded to v6 (I hadn't noticed anything before). Just so I'm clear... even though the parity drive has failed, and disk 7 is disabled, the data from the other drives will still be enough to rebuild?
  8. Ok. I will start the extended tests now. Will take about 6 hours to complete.
  9. I don't understand why disk 7 is showing disabled. Would someone be able to explain this? The drive seems healthy and I can't see anywhere to enable it.
  10. If the other disks pass the SMART test you can do a new config with a new parity and all your other disks, do you have a spare? I just purchased a new 3TB with the intention of expanding the array. I can use it to replace the parity drive. Do you have a link to instructions on how to perform this?

  13. While waiting on these tests, since I know the parity drive is bad, how do I go about replacing it? Since one drive on the array isn't enabled, I'm not sure where to start here.
  14. Taking a long time to run. There's no way I can queue up multiple drives to test?
  15. Found it. It only ran for a few seconds before generating "Errors occurred - Check SMART report" on the Parity drive. Attached log. tower-smart-20160313-1725.zip
  16. Thanks! How do I run a SMART test? I don't see it in the "Tools" section.
  17. I upgraded from v5 to v6 today. I'm now getting an error indicator on one of the drives stating "Device is disabled" with a red X. I don't see anywhere to enable the drive and a search of the forums is yielding confusing results (possible hardware failure?). How do I test the drive, enable or repair/replace it as needed? Thanks. tower-diagnostics-20160313-1646.zip
  18. All it's going to be doing is the following: Emby Server CouchPotato Sonarr SabNZBd uTorrent Plex (maybe) So I don't foresee any issue with client limits. Let me ask a question for you fine folks though... one of the biggest issues I had with unRAID 5, has been that I can't plug a USB drive in and move data on to it when I need to take large quantities elsewhere; I have to run it through the network. Does version 6 allow the use of USB to do this?
  19. Looks to be averaging between 23 and 25 MBps (so about 200mbps I guess) for writing. About 250MBps for reading (transfer from that to the C: SSD).
  20. A bit off topic, but which mode did you set your storage spaces to [simple, parity, or mirrored]? And what kind of read/write speeds did you get to/from the storage space? Using parity. I'm honestly not sure how to test it (I'm not super-techy). When I try to use Parkdale on it, it seems to give some artificially low number (like 5MBps) which I know is not correct just from the speeds of transferring files.
  21. For some reason I have it in my mind that i need to get to 6 before I can convert the FS to something readable by Windows. Is this not the case?
  22. No, but the unassigned devices plugin allows you to do that. This is where you are going to start having issues... can Windows natively support RSF? (Windows would not see the disk as formatted if it doesn't support RFS) I am pretty sure the answer is no, which means the steps to do this are a bit harder and involve running two machines (one Linux, one Windows) and a network connection of some sort. I'm also not sure how expansion of storage spaces works... if you can just add in one disk at a time, or if it's more like ZFS, or standard RAID configurations. Edit3: I guess what I am really saying here is that before you go down this path, which is a bit more work then I think you realize right now... but might be the right path... make sure your issues aren't addressed in the latest version or aren't easy fixes. That's just my opinion, you are welcome to do what you want, but I know it won't be as simple as taking currently formatted disks and pugging them into an Windows Machine. Yeah, my main concern is the reading of the data as I move it. i was under the impression that there were plugins for windows now that allowed you to read that the file type that unRAID uses. I'll try v6 as you all suggest first, but I really like the gui and familiarity I have with Windows (plus the three emby servers I've built for people in the last year have performed spectacularly with storage spaces). And yeah, you can just add additional disks to storage spaces as you get them; it's quite nice.
  23. Am I able to plug in a USB drive and drag and drop with 6.0? Because going through the network sucks.
