  1. still getting the same issue despite limiting the Plex docker to 8GB RAM (see attached diagnostics) tower2-diagnostics-20231130-1129.zip
  2. sorry I completely missed the field, I see it now - have updated, will see if this resolves the issue tomorrow morning
  3. I do not see the Extra Parameters field in my docker - I notice that you are using binhex - I am using Hotio docker. There is a field titled additional requirements??
  4. after adding the extra paramater to the docker container yesterday I had the same issue this morning with the OOM error (see attached diagnostics and screenshot of the extra parameter settings tower2-diagnostics-20231129-1225.zip
  5. The logins right before the OOM are a mystery to me as they are at 4am or 6am so I would have been asleep - looking at the IP address on my router it appears to be an Apple device - I'm not sure which device, but unclear why an Apple device is logging in at that time?? stupid question - how do you limit a container to a certain amount of RAM? For reference I am using Hotio docker container
  6. As per title, over the last few days I've started to get some out of memory errors on my machine. I have 32GB RAM and never had any issues previously (this unraid build is just over a year old). Hoping someone with deeper knowledge might be able to shine a bit more light reviewing the diagnostics tower2-diagnostics-20231127-2053.zip
  7. Ok as an update, I have started with a fresh install of Unraid on the USB stick and copied over the following files: -disk.cfg -docker.cfg -ident.cfg -super.dat -share.cfg -config/psswd -config/shadow -config/smbpasswd -Docker templates from plugin folder Everything appears to be working now, so must have been one of the plugins, I am guessing unless anyone can shed any further light (would be good to understand what caused the issue). What doesnt add up for me is that I tried running in safe mode without the plugins originally and it was still having the same issue which made me think it wasnt a plugin issue. Anyway, I am going to try installing each of the plugins one by one and testing which may help identify the cause
  8. Ok so tested something this morning. 1 - I formatted the usb drive and copied over clean install of Unraid and then copied entire config folder - same result with unable to connect error 2 - I re-formatted the usb drive to a clean install of Unraid (not copying over anything from my backup config folder) and was able to load the GUI when booting that, so that confirms to me theres not an issue at the router or cabling etc. Question though, what files do I need to copy over from the config folder to retain shares, disk order, dockers etc - happy to reinstall plugins etc if required, but ideally don't want to have to redo shares or docker. Note that I am still currently on a trial licence (was just about to purchase the full licence)
  9. Yep no change following removing dynamix.unraid.net.plg plugin Is anyone able to suggest anything following read through of the latest diagnostics I posted?
  10. Have tried leaving it a good 45 mins and no change, updated diagnostics attached. I have then removed the dnamix.unraid.net.plg plugin and started into GUI mode - initially getting the same 'unable to connect' error - but will leave it a few mins and report back. Hopefully the updated diagnostics might help shine light tower2.0-diagnostics-20211204-1559.zip
  11. Hi, I have recently been building a new server. Everything has been fine for last week or so, last night though I shutdown unraid to install a new hard drive. Upon reboot I am unable to access the Unraid GUI remotely via the IP or directly on the server in GUI mode. I am getting an error of localhost unable to connect. As far as I'm aware no settings have been adjusted to have impacted this, and server has been running fine until this reboot. A few things to note: - Cable - have double checked that the cable (directly connected to router) is working fine on other devices - Static IP - I have a static IP setup for the server within my router - I have tested removing this and let it dynamically get its own IP address but still same end result - I am able to access the terminal fine and login via root account - I have also tested pinging the servers IP from another machine and all seems fine - I have noticed that on boots through all my testing an IPv4 address is assigned but for IPv6 I get 'address not set' - I can't remember if that is typical or not -USB thumb drive is a Samsung Bar Plus USB 3.1 Flash Drive 32GB (as recommended by SpaceInvaderOne) - again have had no issues with this for last month while getting this server running -the USB drive has been to date in a USB 3 slot and running fine, I have also tested this in a USB 2 slot and same results -The motherboard BIOS is set to boot legacy, I have also tried to boot UEFI and same result Diagnostics are attached. Hoping this is something fairly simple - I've seen a few people mention in threads to remove the network.cfg and network-rules.cfg files from the usb drive - I have tried this but same result. tower2.0-diagnostics-20211204-1009.zip
  12. ok thanks, I guess I am looking more for best performance rather than redundancy - as will be looking to use the appdata backup plugin and dont use VMs. From my limited reading atomic moves seems to be good way to go performance wise - but as far as I can tell I would be using 2 NVMEs in a pool with redundancy or what I had originally planned (before learning about atomic moves) was to use 1 NVME drive for appdata and 1 for Downloads. Trying to understand which is going to bring best performance in terms of tv/movie downloads from usenet which is primary use for the server
  13. Was running latest version but really hadn’t done much to the server in all that time so just had a standard ssd (non nvme) as a single cache. Have just built brand new server and have 2x 500gb samsung nvmes and trying to work out how best to setup the whole new thing. I don’t use vms- could in the future possibly - but it’s solely used for Plex/sonarr/Radarr etc
  14. Thanks, guess what I’m trying to understand is pros and cons of either using the two 500gb nvme drives I have as one pool as you have with atomic moves guide or to use each separate with one for appdata and one for downloads
  15. That does help but apologies for follow up questions as although I've ran unraid for 10 years, its been a simple setup with 1 cache before atomic moves was talked about. I'm just setting up brand new server so hoping to try and get as optimal as possible. When you say the 2 drives installed as a cache in RAID configuration, do you mean in Unraid you added the 2 NVME drives as a single pool?
  16. Hi, I’m in similar position to your first post and considering the atomic moves setup. What I’m still unclear on is how you are leveraging the two NVME drives? As don’t you just have the new single share sitting on one of those drives rather than using both?
  17. Hi all, I have an Unraid server that has been running since 2011 and the hardware is starting to die on me, so I'm looking to rebuild a complete new server. Main purpose for the Unraid is for Plex, Sonarr, Radarr etc only served locally currently. I may want in the future to run a VM and potentially share my Plex library externally with 1-2 people. I've picked out the below parts for the build. I will be re-using 5x 6TB WD Red drives that I have in my current server. The rest will be new components. https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/nQBnW3 I'd welcome any feedback, gotchas, compatibility concerns or things I may have missed.
  18. Hi, I build my first Unraid server around 2011 - its running an old ASUS M4A78LT-M LE motherboard and and old Phenom II processor. I am looking to do a complete rebuild of a new server. My primary use is Plex and just within the one household. 1080k content has always ran seamlessly, but the machine is struggling a bit more with 4k content. I am leaning towards an Intel build from bits I've read around the iGPU. I will likely get the Fractal Define 7 XL or Fractal Meshify 2XL case as will have 10+ HDDs and currently run a SSD cache drive, but likely to get a NVME. So ideally looking for a board with as many SATA ports as possible. In my old server I ran the SuperMicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 card - I suspect that is pretty dated now so will be looking at getting a new HBA.
  19. Slight update, I have booted the server in Safe Mode with GUI with a monitor plugged in and started the data rebuild - this has moved past the 0.1% mark which at least is an improvement and is currently around 3% through. I will let this run and see if this can complete the rebuild and then hopefully make it easier to diagnose the issue with the GUI remotely
  20. So to add to this the GUI is definitely very unresponsive - if I try and carry out any kind of action it seems to freeze up - examples - trying to run Fix Common Problems plugin - updating any dockers. I tried rebooting the machine and not assigned the disk I was swapping to see if that would resolve the GUI issues (ie caused by the rebuild) but with that disk unassigned if I run the read-check then the same thing happens - it kicks off gets to approx 2GB in the 'current position' and then stops moving any further
  21. Looking for help after running into some issues when changing a data drive this weekend. I was swapping out a data drive for a larger drive which I thought would be a simple process (as have done a number of times before). When doing this though I found that the USB my OS runs on was slightly bent and the USB case itself starting to fall apart (I have had this Unraid server running for 9 or so years). I was able to get the USB into my local machine holding the pins together and copied all the files over onto the local machine. I then reformatted another USB drive to FAT32 and copied all files over. I ran the make_bootable file and got the server turned on. I had to get a replacement key via LimeTech which all seemed to be working fine. The server connected fine and started the parity sync/rebuild for the new drive. I thought everything was fine last I saw it was at approximately 60% through the rebuild but after going out for a bit I came back and my server was disconnected and I couldn't access the GUI. I had to hard reboot the machine and thought the rebuild would pick up where it left off. When the server reboots I get a green message stating 'Parity sync/data rebuild finished (0 errors) Duration 12 hours, 9 minutes, 20 seconds. Average speed: nan B/s' Starting the array again kicks off the parity sync/rebuild but now it gets to about 0.1% and the does not move past that. I've also noticed some that when it gets to this point although the time elapsed counter continues to move the GUI of Unraid becomes almost unresponsive - I can move between menus fine, but if I try and pause or cancel the parity sync nothing happens, same if I try and reboot or shutdown from the GUI. I'm a bit at a loss at whether this is an issue with the data rebuild and something happened while that was working or whether this is connected with the OS USB change. I've attached diagnostics and sys log tower-diagnostics-20211109-2216.zip tower-syslog-20211109-2217.zip
  22. thanks have disabled, anything I need to clear now that is disabled?
  23. Hi, I have recently started to get the following error show in 'Fix Common Problems' '/var/log is getting full (currently 81 % used)' Either your server has an extremely long uptime, or your syslog could be potentially being spammed with error messages. A reboot of your server will at least temporarily solve this problem, but ideally you should seek assistance in the forums and post your diagnostics I've attached the diagnostics file, if someone is able to help? tower-diagnostics-20180208-0856.zip
