Sorry for the double post, but I need your support.
Bit I just found this one: HighPoint RocketRAID 2680SGL.
Does this card work with unRAID??
-
Okay I found both of your suggested cards, and over here they cost (both) around the 140 euro's.
I am going to look if there are cheaper cards over here, and if I found some card, I will state that in this topic, to check if they are compatible with unRAID.
Many thanks,
Rik
EDIT2: I just found this one: HighPoint RocketRAID 2680SGL .
Does this card work with unRAID??
EDIT: Nope, nothing here that is cheaper. Then I'll go for the first card AOC-SAS2LP-MV8.
Thanks for the support!

You have one PCI slot and one PCIe x1 slot, and one PCIe x16 slot. As long as the x16 slot is available (i.e. you're not using it for a graphics card), then I'd get an 8-port SATA card like the SAS2LP-MV8 [ http://www.supermicro.com/products/accessories/addon/AOC-SAS2LP-MV8.cfm ]
The x16 slot will always be available, because I don't want a graphics card in my server.
I hope the card that you mentioned, is available in the Netherlands...
Otherwise I need an other one...
EDIT: He is available in the Netherlands, but the price, whoa 140 Euro's...
Aren't there cheaper cards with 8 slots?

My motherboard is a MSI A55M-P33
See > http://www.msi.com/product/mb/A55M-P33.html
All the slots are free on my motherboard.
Except for the Sata slots, of course.
I hope this will help in the search for a expansion card.
-
Well, I not familiar with this kind of operations.
So what should I do now?
I don't get what you say with "Confirm which type of card you need and we can suggest specific models."
Do you want to know PCI or PCIe?
-
Hi All,
I have a nice unRAID server working here.
But all the (6) slots on my motherboard are in use...
Now I read in the unRAID wiki that not every PCI Sata extension card works with unRAID.
Am I right?
Well, I live in the Netherlands, so were can I get an unRAID-compatible card for more Sata slots?
I hope this question is posted in the right category, otherwise please move it
Greetings, Rik
PS. I have unRAID Server Pro version: 5.0

Guys I've got the problem.
Now switched on other port on my mobo.
All I/O errors, so the drive is broken.
I'm going to send it back to the shop, where I bought it.
Many thanks for all the help!!
Kind Regards,
Rik

I can now select disk3 with the following options:
no device > starting the array
Or if I want to choose "(sde) 2930266584", then the page refreshes and disk3 is set back to "no device"...
So I cannot start my array with this new drive...
I'm getting sick of it...
Greetings, Rik
EDIT: What if I put it in an other SATA port on my motherboard?
-
check the "yes, I wan't to do this" checkbox and then click on the "clear" button.
If you did not pre-clear the disk, the server will then be off-line for 8-10 hours (possibly more) while the disk is cleared by unRAID.
Yes, but that is the problem.
If I clear this drive, it only takes 1 - 1,5 hours to clear.
And then I get in the drives select menu (little drop down at disk3) "(sde) 2930266584".
And not my normal "WDC_WD30EZRX-00SPEB0_WD-WCC4E0300077 (sde) 2930266532".
To clarify it: After clearing I get picture error3.jpg.
So I cannot choose my disk after clearing...
I have a appointment at 11AM (CET) (10AM GMT).
So I'm setting my server now on Clearing, and when I am back, I'll post my results.
Kind Regards, Rik

I have a syslog from this afternoon, see: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14268052/syslog-2014-01-26.txt
And a just made syslog: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14268052/syslog-2014-01-26--21-42.txt
The latest syslog shows no problems. What is the issue?
The issue is that I cannot get my new 3TB hard drive in to my existing array...
I can choose it, then the ball turns blue.
I do a Clear, and then you'll see this (look at the attachment!).
I cannot start my array...
Greetings, Rik

Okay, then I will wait for a reply from the experts.
I shutdown the server for now...
I hope to hear from them soon,
Rik

Your syslog shows data corruption on the drive, but I leave it to the true experts to tell you what to do!
Okay, but the drive is brand new and I opened it at this morning.
So he's empty.
But how long does it going to take, before the experts are going to help me??
Thanks, Rik
PS. Can I shut the server down in meantime?

Thanks for the math, Joe.
I'm now at 96 percent...
Still not sure if it is going well.
-
But do I everything good?
Because he is now at "Clearing, 19% complete... "
You are doing good, but need to have patience
I have the patience, but because he's now at 22 percent of clearing, I thought it goes too fast...
So I'll wait, and wait, and of course wait

I going to check my cables.
Thank you for the tip, and you'll hear from me later.
EDIT:I've reconnected my hdd.
Then I clicked on the Clear-button.
So he is now clearing...
How long should that take??
It's a 3TB disk.
-
Hi all,
I've just placed a 3TB hard disk in my server.
The server recognized that disk perfectly.
One thing:
I can't get my array back spun up.
I've selected my new HDD and it became blue.
Then I clicked "Clear", and "Yes I want to do this".
He was clearing that hard disk, and finally left me with a not starting array.
So what am I doing wrong??
See my screenshot and syslog for more info.
I hope you'll guys can help me,
Greetings, Rik

Which SATA extension card?
in Hardware
Posted
Now I am doubting...
The more expensive card, I mean the SAS2LP-MV8, is that card 100% supported with unRAID?
And how is it with my drives, can that card take up to 3TB disks?
Because I don't want to buy a cheaper card, and in the end, a not working card...
I hope you can answer these two questions.
Many thanks for all the support!
Gr. Rik
