Solutions

  1. deviani's post in Unable to Login to GUI was marked as the answer   
    I was able to log in using a reverse proxy using the https port. When enabling TLS to access the unraid server the login is working fine. It seems to be something to do with accessing the server over http only.
  2. deviani's post in Unraid hostname not detected across subnets was marked as the answer   
    Insead of using the hostname i've switched to using a dns record running on a local DNS server. This makes the files accessible without having to use the IP address directly.
