  1. The Unraid webui runs on port 80

Is that the port you've used in the Myth docker?

By default it was set to 80 when I installed it. It looks like it opens up 10 total ports and 80 is one of them. I will change it and see what happens, thanks!

Edit: I changed it to 81 and now it is running, thank you again!

  2. I am getting this error when trying to start the container, any ideas where the conflict is?

    The command failed.

Running one windows VM with nothing installed on it yet. Other containers are: Crashplan, Emby and SAB

  3. Tried to upgrade through the UI and also fresh installs of multiple USB sticks and I keep getting this error: /dev/disk/by-label/UNRAID where it's not mounting the USB drive.

I have two HP sticks that work great with beta15 and one Sony stick that also boots beta15. I boot all of them directly off the MB and the system is showing all 32gb of ram.

Any idea why other, older versions would work but the RC version will not mount the USB drive?

Try a different port -> ie: if you're currently plugging into a USB3 port try a USB2 port.

Funny, I read a lot of threads on switching USB ports to solve the problem and most, if not all said to take it out of a USB3 and put in a USB2. I tried all the USB2 ports with no luck and never bothered to try the USB3 ports until you suggested to try a different port. Put it in a USB3 port and it fired right up. Amazing and thank you for the suggestion!

  5. I believe that model (and the 340T) allow for each port to be passed through individually as there is a controller for each port on the card. The VT, PT and others have multiple ports as well, but I believe the limitation is they have one controller for each pair of ports. So when you pass them through they need to be teamed up and not passed through one at a time. That's not an issue typically on bare metal, but in a VM it helps to be able to use each one when PCIE ports are limited.

  6. Download

Disclaimer: This is beta software.  While every effort has been made to ensure no data loss, use at your own risk!

If you are running -beta9, or -beta10, you can update via the Plugin Manager by selecting following URL and paste in the Install Extension box (beta9) or Install Plugin box (beta10):

    https://raw.githubusercontent.com/limetech/webGui/master/unRAIDServer/unRAIDServer.plg

If you are running beta10 you will see some messages that look like:

Warning: mkdir(): File exists in /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/plgMan/plugin on line 146

Those are harmless and eliminated in the release you are downloading.

Sorry about the bugs in -beta10; most were due to my own snafu in creating the actual release...

Summary of changes from 6.0-beta10 to 6.0-beta10a
    -------------------------------------------------
    - emhttp: get rid of extraneous "closeConnection" messages
    - shfs: fix issue preventing new object creation on use_cache=yes shares when cache not present
    - plgMan: eliminate extraneous mkdir warning
    - plgMan: fix issue where 'update' operation installs wrong symlink
    - webGui: eliminate extraneous timezone indicator on DateTime page
    - xenMan: restored 'x' bit in event scripts

I just built a new machine with the following ,

    ECS NM70-i

    1gb ram

    4x3tb hdd

    its a mini itx build.

it runs unraid 5.0.5 just fine , soon as i try beta 6 release 10a it blows up with this error.

Quick question, did you try to upgrade 5 to 6a without removing your old 5x plugins?

I have this exact same problem when upgrading from 5.0.5 to any of the 6.0 versions. Ended up being the flash drive as I installed 6.0 on a few others and it worked. Which reminds me I need to ask Tom to move that license to one that does work. :)

  7. I am running a ESXi server with unRAID and windows 8 all running on a asrock c226 ws and Xeon 1245.  Those are going to cost you ~$500.  I have a LSI 9211 and 2 tv tuner cards passed to windows.  I don't believe you need to divvy out your cores to VMs I have all 8 cores assigned to both VMs.  I also remember reading that windows 7 has problems passing though GPUs on Xen.

Good info, I will look at the asrock lineup as well.

  8. I don't know if the board will work for you,  but I just picked up a supermicro x8dtn+ for $140 (ebay) and (2) 5670 6 core chips ($275) for the pair.i just got unraid and up and working (had to disable the network boot options on the pci-x slot) and will be trying out the kvm/xen scenarios this week sometime. Looking to run unraid, plex, mac osx (blu ray rips,  and I like macs), and possibly pfsense (although I might do a separate 1u server for this so that the Internet isn't down while i have the server down for maintenance.

The only issue with the x8dtn board is that it is enhanced extended atx and you either need a case to handle it (supermicro) or are capable of extending your power supply wiring (which is what I am going to be doing) to get it out of the way.

Please post your findings when you get something setup. That mobo and processor(s) might work in my case as well.

  9.

I have read through that thread a few times. Out of the 23 setups there, only one mentions the 990fx chipset and two mention using Supermicro motherboards. And several note "working" setups but their sig's note newer equipment that may or may not work for what *I* need. Looking for more insight on the 990fx setups and any new Supermicro or other boards that are newer and might work with 4+ PCIe slots.

  10. I am looking to upgrade from my older, low power setup so I can run VM's in either ESXI or Xen (yet to be determined).

I am looking for suggestions on which motherboard I should get based on the following:

Will need to run unRaid, Windows 7, XBMC with passthrough for two PCIe video cards (one for windows one for XBMC) and also have room for two M1015's.

I have been looking at the Gigabyte 990fx line and cant decide if the UD3 will be enough slots for all of that as I will need to add a NIC as well. Maybe the UD5 or UD7 would be better/more flexible?

The other, more expensive route obviously is to go the Supermicro route but I am not sure which board would have enough PCIe slots to run 4-5 cards at once and not kill performance.

I would assume the AMD Fx chips with 8 cores would be enough to assign two cores to the Unraid and XBMC clients and leave 4 for the windows client. I am not sure what CPU Intel has that would allow that without spending a ton of $$$ on an 8 core offering.

Any help, suggestions or working builds you can post would be a big help!

  11. By the way right now there is a problem with beta 7 and 8 that can cause corruption of data on rfs might want to wait for beta 9. To continue trying.

I noticed this late last night as I was looking for another beta (6 or 7) to download and try but nothing was posted on the lime-tech page to download. Thank you for the heads up!

Sorry I should have specified model of usb drive? That way I might be able to find a correlation with your problem.

The drive in question is a Sandisk Cruser 2Gb. This is the one that works with 5.0.5 but doesn't with beta8

  12. The true intention of that backplane is space efficiency and cost savings in an enterprise environment.  Servers tend to have a lack of IO space, thus using fewer PCIe cards for the same number of drives is important so you can have room for those other IO cards.  Or rather expensive RAID cards where having all drives on one card is necessary, thus the need for a SAS expander.  Or massive amounts of disks attached to each server, thus aggregation and over-subscription by using SAS expanders is almost necessary.

You are a home user so none of that applies.  Three M1015, or one with that backplane.  Either option will work just fine.  It really all comes down to what suites your needs the best.  Using a SAS expander will free up more PCIe slots for other use and using three M1015 will theoretically have more throughput and probably be slightly more cost effective but you will use up most if not all >=x8 lane PCIe slots on a single socket motherboard.

Thank you for helping me sort it all out. I am 50/50 on keeping it as it would be nice down the road to have the option to have those PCIe slots open for other devices.

  13. How many PCIe lanes do you have to each M1015?  24Gb/s is quite a bit of throughput...  3 M1015's sitting on enough PCIe lanes to service each full speed would *theoretically* have a higher ceiling on performance then the 24Gb/s on the 4 channel SAS port.  Are you going to be doing something that has more throughput then this and are you using an OS that is capable of driving this throughput?  If you were running several SSD's or a bunch of 15k drives then maybe.  Was thinking the PCIe 2.0 x8 on the M1015 capped out at around 32Gb/s

I am currently running 2 M1015's on in 2 PCI-E 8x slots on an Asus M4A89GTD PRO Motherboard bought years ago for low power usage and inexpensive unRAID server. I am in the process of collecting new parts to venture in to the world of VM's through ESXI or Xen. I doubt I would ever use the SAS backplane for it's true intention which is high speed drives in an Enterprise environment. I just wanted to make sure I was not sitting on a great piece of hardware for unRAID and some VM's. It would seem that the SAS expander is overkill for what I need. Another similar chassis with the same backplane just sold for $500 on eBay tonight. Mine has that plus it's a working server with a lot of extras. Seems like it would make more sense to sell it an use the $ to buy parts that fit more with what I am going to use it all for, right?

  14. Thank you for the reply!

So if I understand correctly the SAS backplane takes the place of say an Intel RES2SV240 expander? So I would run one cable from the M1015 to the backplane to control all 24 drives?

And in your opinion would 2-3 M1015's and my current SATA backplane be faster for 24 drives (eventually) and/or more ideal for unRAID and VM's or would the SAS expander backplane with one M1015 be a better solution? I am going to sell one chassis or the other just thinking through it all before I get rid of the other one.

  15. I picked up a Supermicro 4U 24 Bay server the other day. I was checking out the backplane and noticed it's an SAS model that is different from the SATA connections on the one that I bought years ago from Tam's.

The model number is SAS846EL2 and if I am reading the user guide correctly http://www.supermicro.com/manuals/other/BPN-SAS-846EL.pdf in some instances I should be able to control all 24 drives with one cable? Is that true and would I need a controller that will do all 24 drives with one connection? I run M1015's now but I am curious if this backplane would be superior to my SATA backplane with a lot less cables and maybe cards.

Edit: Looks like Tam's sold a similar one on eBay recently. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Supermicro-24-Bay-Chassis-SAS846EL2-SAS-4U-JBPWR2-Server-/171348859970 Though it looks like a JBOD setup with the cards on the rear and no motherboard.

Any help or insight would be a big help. Thanks!

  16. I have a good, working setup with a pro license on 5.0.5. I purchased a second license from Tom a few months ago and am now getting around to testing out 6.0-beta8 on the second license and have run in to a problem:

1: The USB flash drive I assigned the second license to boots to the tower login and can be accessed from the webGUI with a fresh install of 5.0.5. This had to work originally for me to get the GUID for Tom to assign the license so I know it worked in April and it works now.

2: When I do a fresh install of 6.0-beta8 on the same USB flash drive the system gets the Kernel Panic error and locks up.

I tested the USB flash drive with check disk and no errors are reported.

I also took another USB flash drive I had and installed a fresh install of 6.0-beta8 on it and it booted to the tower login and webGUI works.

Any ideas why the USB drive will boot fine with 5.0.5 final but won't boot a beta version but another USB drive will?
