    (SOLVED) Changing out MB and CPU - now no network

    I just moved from a server motherboard setup to a consumer one - switching from X9DRi-LN4F+ 2x 2650s to a MSI B460 motherboard and Intel i3-10100. LSI card I just switched over. Removed the SFP+ card for now and the Nvidia Quadro P2000.

     

    1. FIrst, it wouldn't see it - fine - I renamed EFI- to EFI. Fixed.

    2. It couldn't connect to the eth ports I had it set to from before, so I forced it to rebuild network.cfg. Now it just gets a self-assigned IP address. This is on the 2.5G port. On the 1G port, it doesn't even see it.

     

    Any thoughts on how I can get this working?

    I currently am running a X9DRi-LN4F+ / 2x 2650v2 / 80GB ECC RAM / Quadro P2000 / etc. It is clearly overkill and a power hog.

     

    I am thinking about moving to a Quicksync enabled build to reduce power and simplify it out. 90% of my usage is Plex - 3-4 streams max;some HDR/4K/Atmos stuff admittedly.

     

    CPU: Pentium G6400 (next year change to i5 11th gen for better transcoding support)

    CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Freezer 34 CO
    Motherboard: MSI z490 Tomahawk
    Chassis: Supermicro SC846
    Drives: 8x HGST 6TB
    RAM: Teamforce Vulcan Z DDR4-2666 32GB
    Add-in Cards: LSI 4i4e flashed; Quadro P2000; Supermicro SFP+ card
    Power Supply: Bequiet 750W

    Questions:

     

    1. Will I be short PCI-E lanes? G6400 has 16 available I think - the z490 was selected to maximize lanes later in case.

    2. Related, do I need the Quadro?

    3. Where can I shave cost safely?

    - MB - z490 Tomahawk is admittedly overkill, but I find OC ready boards have great VRM cooling

    - PSU - is top tier and has lots of headroom.

    - CPU - G6400 might not have enough power;

    Another change I found when installing. a new fresh arch VM

      

    grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/mnt/boot --boot-directory=/mnt/boot --bootloader-id=grub             #installs grub

arch-chroot /mnt                                     #back to /mnt root

pacman -S grub                                       #installs grub package to installation

    the grub-install command won't be found. You need to install grub first.

    Well - it isn't working again. No idea why since I literally didn't touch any settings. Can't access the webui even.

     

    Started complaining about a semicolon in a conf file. Then it had problems with the letsencrypt.pem file. Honestly this is the fourth time it has collapsed without warning, so I don't know what is going on with it. I checked my drives for corruption and they were fine. So something is causing problems, but I think I will go try Caddy.

    Ok - question about pterodactyl. I set it up, created the db and users in my MariaDB.

     

    I got a 500 page. Then I went to create a user and went through the questionnaire and got:  

      SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name does not resolve

     

    No idea what is going on there... Turned on debug and got a longer version of the same error.

    Hi all - I have this docker installed, SRV record working... Great.

     

    Bunch of questions about how to set this up: I see that there is a lot of info scattered throughout this thread on how to configure it. Is there a good reference guide on bedrock settings, how to add texture packs, etc? This is for my kid, so I don't know a lot about Minecraft.

    Cannot get cache to format to XFS

    I had it in BTRFS, emptied it, and cannot get the server to let me format it as XFS.

     

    I stop the array, reformatted it as XFS and it just complains that it is not BTRFS like it used to be. If I leave it unformatted and format it when the array is started, it doesn't give me a choice and just does BTRFS. I have the number of cache drives set as 1, so that isn't it.
