  1. I love as a professional storage designer (pre sales for most of the T1 mains over my career) that unraid doesn't give me a massive headache it is for the most part extremely simple and intuitive to use. I would however appreciate an option to use zfs rather than standalone xfs, as an SAdmin I do occasionally baulk at the raw write speeds and lack of versioning namely when doing large offloads from other large devices (way beyond cache ability), I however fully understand why and it weighs into my first point, perhaps an option to choose performance over simplicity? Either way a massive thanks to limetech and these forums! You all rock
  2. Unfortunately Plex can't find a fault I've been through it the issue seems to lie with either unraid or the docker container unraid support so far has been nill so hoping for some insight from this community numerous threads with the same issue exist but no one ever seems to answer them lol. Either it'll be resolved shortly or I simply won't be purchasing unraid and will migrate to a different solution, which is a shame but if I can't make it work the way I would like it seems pointless to spend additional funds. Cheers anyways Exa
  3. Hey all looking for some advice please? original thread in official repo page Ive followed this guide to the T several times over i have tried every variation i can think off of the above guide and all others i have found. I have tried linuxserver / binhex / limetech / plexinc dockers they all behaviour about the same in this regard Currently running 6.6.7 was running 6.7.2 even tried the latest RC it does not work on any. So what happens is.... Fire up plex works fine force transcoding to test HW acceleration, plex says its working but logs show it is not (changes some times it shows HW sometimes it doesnt) player gets a black screen and nothing happens until i go back to original quality, no disk IO nothin in htop nothing at all its like plex stalls but remains responsive docker setup; (i have tried public/docker/latest/plexpass though i think thats not for linuxserver) (i have also tried setting --device blahh:blah as an extra paramater but im led to believe this method is broken/outdated) (added as an extra device both as /dev/dri and as /dev/dri:/dev/dri neither work) go file; (sdparm to enable write caching on my SAS disks) Now with this i have tried both with and without the chown/chmod lines both result in the same /dev/dri ; plex settings; since downgrading to 6.6.7 the logs show it has a VAAPI provider and is using it before it would say hardware accelration is enabled but not hardware device exists (or something like that) but both plex and tautulli show no HW decoding is present (again changed since going back to 6.6.7 before hand it would show HW in the dashboard but would play nothing, now it doesnt say HW but it still plays nothing) plex says its still on direct steam (this screen taken AFTER the above tautulli) Note if i turn of HW acceleration it works fine just creams my CPU please please please help me! ive found maybe 10 threads which are identical to mine ever single one is closed with no answer or the usual FIXED IT thanks all anyway, no explanation given thank you in advance i am seriously pulling my hair out. EDIT i5-6500 btw another edit so i noticed that /dev/dri wasnt set to 777 even though its in the go file so i manually did it restarted the plex docker and it still doesnt work but now the logs show this;
  4. Sorry to bump myself but does anyone have any ideas please? It's been a few days. Cheers Exa
  5. On mobile so apologies in advance I'm having an issue which I cannot seem to fix Plex software transcoding works fine but as soon as I enable HW transcoding it APPEARS to function (h.264 hw) > SD (hw) shows in dashboard but the file never starts Plex reports no network traffic but cpu usage goes up 60-80% I have rebuilt everything bar unraid so far, I am actually planning to rollback this evening I have the usual modprobe i915 chmod -r 777 in go and pass --device /Dev/dri (from memory but it's copied from the numerous posts I've read) it used to work perhaps 2/3 days ago but now it's just a black screen or constant spinning circle. If I disable hw transcoding it will instantly play Uefi boot enabled /Dev/dri is present with card0 and the other one render0123 (again sorry mobile memory) No ipmi present on board Same is true with other docker containers for Plex but I've always used Linux server so asking here 6.7.latest I5-6500 16gb ram GB z270 Please any advice before i go insane. Thanks Exa EDIT now at a computer again; So here is the docker setup (running plexpass version) here is /dev/dri go file now just says modprobe i915 as per the instructions on page one (i did previously do the chmod but this apparently is not needed, it made no odds anyway) i have not touched syslinux.cfg at all on this build so what happens is start a stream anything at all from chrome/firefox/any computer working fine turn on transcoding even on the lowest of the low settings and this appears awesome its working perfectly confirmed in Tautulli as we can see plex appears to have done its thing and is transcoding but for the love of me i cannot make it actually play i get a black screen with a spinning circle (no screenie you can imagine what that looks like) the true confusion comes from using anything android based so direct play on my office tv force transcoding and it will drop back to SOFTWARE transcoding it wont use hardware, it does however now work If it uses HW it fails to do anything, but it only does HW transcoding if i am using a PC, if i use an android device it only uses software transcoding. sorry for the two parter cheers exa
