  1. Thanks man! I've upgraded and so far so good. I'll have to see if this fixes the freezing problem I had in beta 3.
  2. Can anyone clarify the upgrade directions? I'm running beta-3 but the directions only specify beta-1/2. Is it the same as 1/2 or not? because it looks like more file are brought over in the 1/2.
  3. I was checking the upgrade instructions in the changelog but it appears to only have directions from beta 1/2 and I'm running beta 3. Is there any difference or should I just follow the beta 1/2 directions? Also I've had a lot of freezes on beta 3 and I wanted to know if there was any way to have the log stored in a file for 24 hours (i know it'll get quite large), but it appears to be crashing overnight and when I get up in the morning it's frozen (can't telnet/putty into the server).
  4. The forum I was directed to on a separate forum topic was to this article: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=12767.msg121128#msg121128 I think Reply 3 talked about the M1015. Are you guys also trying to flash it because I figured out that too and just flashed it to P18 (November 2013 release if I recall). This site I got the firmware off If you want to save time is: http://www.lsi.com/products/host-bus-adapters/pages/lsi-sas-9211-8i.aspx#tab/tab4 Edit: Like the form says you want to disable "Boot Support" so that the system will boot properly. If you need help flashing it you can look at my last post here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=31574.0
  5. Anyone have any other recommendations? Anyone have an idea if the most recent firmware has this problem fixed? Edit: Solved. I followed the instructions on this site: http://www.servethehome.com/ibm-serveraid-m1015-part-4/ This was the site I used the first time to flash the M1015. However I couldn't get to the menu which had the "Boot Support" option (FW v7.29.00.00). I followed the same instructions but replaced the 2118it.bin and mptsas2.rom with the most recent firmware from the LSI site: http://www.lsi.com/products/host-bus-adapters/pages/lsi-sas-9211-8i.aspx#tab/tab4 That brought me to v7.35.1 and allowed me to change the "Boot Support" option to disabled and now everything boots normally!!
  6. dgaschk I followed the instructions to disable "boot support" but that option simply is not there on my firmware version. I'm running v7.29.00.00 where the link you supplies the OP is using v7.21.00.00. I've heard also that flashing back to previous versions can cause issues on some electronics. Frank. It did indeed switch the boot priority on my motherboard (gigabyte mobo, and yes I think it's stupid as well), but I changed it back to my usb flash key and it still doesn't work.
  7. Anyone else have any recommendations? This is a serious problem as I have to keep the side off of my case so i can access the cable every time i have to restart it (which recently is quite a lot)...
  8. It is indeed a forward breakout cable which goes from the sff 8087 port on the M1015 to the SATA connection on the hard drive. To confirm the part number for my breakout cable is: 8087-SATA7F-30-1M And when I uplug the 8087 cable from the PORT 0 point on the M1015 (while my system is powered down) then turn on the tower it boots normally into unRAID. However if I leave the cable connected it gets stuck at the "Loading Operating System" stage.
  9. Edit: the flash key doesn't make sense either because it does the same thing when I boot the tower without the flash drive inserted, and it does not do the issue when i disconnect the SFF 8087 cable from the HBA.
  10. I do indeed have a gigabyte motherboard, but this is a new issue. The USB flash key has worked for ~2 years now with no known issues until this one.
  11. Hey guys I've recently acquired a IBM M1015 and flashed it to LSI 9211-IT Mode. The flash went properly and the controller works correctly. The issue I've been running into is that I cannot load the operating system. The IBM controller boots correctly and the motherboard has no issues at POST. After POST the server hangs at the "Loading Operating System" message. My flash drive is set to the top of the boot priority in my BIOS. If I remove the cable from the controller (thereby disconnecting all hard drives from the controller) the server boots normally (obviously missing disks.) The IBM controller has one hard drive connected to it, the drive is the parity drive for the system. Thanks for the help.
  12. On the release notes it states "linux: version 3.10.24p x86_64 (includes reiserfs 'continuous write' patch)" I'm just curious as to what this 'continuous write' patch entails.
  13. I've recently purchased an IBM M1015 online to expand my system. I want to verify that the card is in iT mode before I attempt to do unnecessary flashing (as I am still new at these things and don't want to end up with a $100+ paper weight). Does anyone know a way that I can check the current mode of this card, and if it is not in iT mode a way to flash it so that I can use it as a JBOD HBA? I've tried looking through the forums for a solution to this but have been unable to find it. Thanks in advance for everyones' time.
  14. So this might have been answered and I've missed it, but I updated the webGUI but I'm not sure how to manually envoke it to check for an update? Anyone have any suggestions?
  15. Thanks I got it to work. Does anyone know how it will be updated in the future?
  16. Would that matter if I'm not running anything like unodns and I'm inside the US? And when you updated the GUI did you just click the update button and then BOOM did it just change instantly? or do I have to reset my server?
  17. Hey Tom any idea why when I run the upgrade util for the GUI it seems to run a script on that page, but when I go to the flash drive the "webGui-latest.plg" is 0 kB and it's the only file in that folder? Edit: Running the v 5.0 release
  18. Yea I ran mine too and got an average around 106 MB/s. Pretty good if you ask me.
  19. For those who just keep refreshing this page, RC13 is up.
  20. As far as I know there is still a stale file issue with NTFS. Past that I'm not quite sure. Various people are having better performance with different RC's (although a lot seem to prefer RC-10), but I don't think that's the main reason for holding up final. Edit: Some of the current issues are discussed in this thread: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=25306.0
  21. Yea same here I just got a 600GB WD Velociraptor (quite large) for the cache drive, but it was on sale for $100 so I couldn't pass it up. Very nice drive. It hits my max potential writing from my 840 Pro in my computer to the Array over a Gigabit network without breaking a sweat.
  22. Might I ask why you have a 5400 rpm drive as your cache? Wouldn't you want to have a faster drive as your cache?
  23. If you still need to access the downloads you can go to http://download.lime-technology.com/download/ Edit: But it seems to be back up now.
