adoucette
Hi, my parity drive is failing, under warranty, and I'll replace it with same size/model drive. How do I do that? I've seen the wiki article about swapping for a larger parity drive, and the wiki article about replacing a data drive, but nothing about the steps for simply replacing the (single) parity drive with same size. I'm sure Unraid must make this fairly simple (as they do other drive replacements). Thank you for any assistance! Ari Edited December 18, 2020 by adoucette Quote Link to comment

Ari Replacing a parity drive is no different to replacing a data drive. the steps that are sure to work are: stop array unassign parity drive start array to forget old assignments stop array assign new parity drive start array to build new parity on the new drive i think steps 3 and 4 are probably not needed but they will do not harm. adoucette
So, in my case, I'd probably want to: stop array un-assign parity drive start array to forget old assignments shut down server, take out old parity drive, put new parity drive in its slot, start server stop array assign new parity drive start array to build new parity on the new drive Of course, I guess I run the risk of data loss if one of the data drives fails while the parity is being re-created. Sound about right? Edited December 18, 2020 by adoucette Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
No need to start the array to forget old parity, just assign new one and start. Quote Link to comment
adoucette
Thanks for the assistance. Would it be helpful to clarify in the wiki articles that replacing parity drive with same size is the same procedure as for replacing a data drive? (I may be slow on the uptake, but I didn't come across that info before asking it here) Quote Link to comment
