January 3, 20215 yr I want to leave one disk (Disk 3) for just photos and documents. I noticed that some backup share files have been saved on Drive 3. I have changed the backup share setting to: "Included disks: Disk 1, Disk 2 ; Excluded disks: None." Can I just delete these files on Disk 3 now and when 'CA Backup / Restore Appdata' runs again all backup files be on Disk 1 and Disk 2? Edited January 3, 20215 yr by adminmat
January 4, 20215 yr Author anyone? I'm a bit paranoid I'm going to do some serious damage. Edited January 4, 20215 yr by adminmat
January 4, 20215 yr Author Apparently even though I have set the backup share to only use Disk1 and Disk2 the Backup and Restore plugin is still writing to Disk3. This is confusing.
January 4, 20215 yr Community Expert Include/exclude and other User Share settings control where new files are written. Old files will not be moved, and old files are overwritten in place. You can move them manually to other disks using a number of methods. Or maybe unBALANCE plugin would be more to your liking.

I'm semi comfortable using the command line and cp or mv commands. (or I can try midnight commander) I'm just not sure if it was necessary at all to move them. Can I just delete them from Disk 3. Then shouldn't I expect the Backup and Restore plugin to put all the files in the right place when it runs again this evening? This is really only concerning flash drive backup files.
January 4, 20215 yr Community Expert I had to move some files recently, i was not 100% in cli due to not being 100% used to it so i personally used the Dolphin docker, but be super super care to move a share to a share or a drive to a drive (not a drive to a share else files will go bye bye) Handy for a 'windows explore' look and feel and for a once off moving of things Just be sure to set your shares to not dump anything else back on them after bu using the exclude etc (and also if you dont want your other files make sure you only allow it to send to a single disk by selecting that one)

You should at least go to Main - Boot Device - Flash - Flash Backup to download a zipped backup of flash before deleting the only backup you have. I was using CA Backup to a remote share with Unassigned Devices to get my flash backup onto another computer where I could access it if I couldn't boot Unraid due to flash problem. There is a new feature I am testing to automatically backup flash to Unraid cloud storage but hasn't been released yet.

Thanks for the help.

Not sure why it allows you to do it. I think that's what caused this issue. I have it now set like this: Included disk(s): Disk 1, Disk 2 Excluded disk(s): None I hope that is correct. January 4, 20215 yr Community Expert Included means Only those disks. Excluded means Except for those disks. There is never any reason to set both.

I was reffering to your other shares which you 'dont' want the data to go onto those drives (which is why we are moving it in the first place right?) So you mentioned you want your 'photos' on one and everything else on another, so just set the include for the drive you need, and for your other shares to exclude the drive with the data you want on the one drive, Thats what i mentioned the include and exclude,
