max memory question

Featured Replies

I did a uname -a and noticed that the kernel is i686.  i686 is a 32bit build right?

Does the memory manager that unraid uses have the ability to index more than 4gb of ram? (32bit register limitations...)

Yes, unRAID has PAE enabled so it can address over 4GB, albeit with a slight performance hit that likely won't be noticed by anyone.

Cool,

Thanks for the info.

My little machine is rocking 4GB right now. ;)

I only have 2gb atm...

If I decide to put a VM on the box I will want to bump it up to like 6gb...

A good idea if you plan on running VM's

I have 8GB sitting aside right now for when I upgrade my system and move it to a new case.
