Healthy disk disabled?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I recently swapped my CPU over to a higher model.
Upon reboot of Unraid, one of my disks became disabled.

Initial inspections of the disk, it appears healthy?

I am unsure of the process to re-enable this drive? do I have to rebuild it? is there anyway to re-enable it without a rebuild?

Appreciate any advice!

SMART looks mostly OK, but you should post the complete diags, hopefully you didn't reboot yet, much more info there.

Then not much more we can say for now unless you have some controller that's is known to have issues, you can run an extended SMART test on the disable disk and if it passes rebuild on top, before doing that you can also replace/swap cables to rule them out if it happens again to the same disk.

If I assume the disk is fine, is there a way i can add it back to the array without rebuilding?

Post diagnostics for further advice.

Why did you run filesystem check on the disk? That won't help with disabled but it will help with unmountable. Was the disk both unmountable and disabled? The emulated disk seems to be mounted now and doesn't look like anything wound up in lost+found share.

You will have to rebuild because the disk is no longer in sync with the array. The only alternative to get the array back in sync is New Config and rebuild parity, but it is the data disk that really needs to be rebuilt. Have you checked the contents of the emulated disk? The contents of the emulated disk is what will result from rebuild.

Since you rebooted syslog doesn't tell us why the disk was disabled. Looks like you are using Marvell controller, these are not recommended.

Are you running Unraid virtually? You seem to have omitted that crucial information in your description.
