EricZhang456 Posted July 21, 2021 Posted July 21, 2021 (edited) Hi. I just installed unRAID on my recent build. Trying to create an array with all HDDs, 1 SSD for cache and 1 unused SSD. However I am unable to sync my parity disk because of a disk error. The disks were working fine under TrueNAS SCALE. Output of diagnostics is attached below. itimpi Posted July 21, 2021 Posted July 21, 2021 It looks as if all the drives have dropped offline. This suggests it is something that is common to all the drives such as the power, disk controller, etc Quote
JorgeB Posted July 21, 2021 Posted July 21, 2021 It's not a disk problem, all disks connected to the JMicron controllers are timing out: Jul 21 04:34:50 Tower kernel: ata9: hard resetting link Jul 21 04:35:00 Tower kernel: ata10: softreset failed (device not ready) Jul 21 04:35:00 Tower kernel: ata10: hard resetting link Jul 21 04:35:00 Tower kernel: ata11: softreset failed (device not ready) Jul 21 04:35:00 Tower kernel: ata11: hard resetting link Jul 21 04:35:00 Tower kernel: ata9: softreset failed (device not ready) Jul 21 04:35:00 Tower kernel: ata9: hard resetting link Jul 21 04:35:00 Tower kernel: ata7: softreset failed (device not ready) Jul 21 04:35:00 Tower kernel: ata7: hard resetting link Jul 21 04:35:00 Tower kernel: ata8: softreset failed (device not ready) Jul 21 04:35:00 Tower kernel: ata8: hard resetting link Jul 21 04:35:10 Tower kernel: ata10: softreset failed (device not ready) Jul 21 04:35:10 Tower kernel: ata10: hard resetting link Jul 21 04:35:10 Tower kernel: ata9: softreset failed (device not ready) Jul 21 04:35:10 Tower kernel: ata9: hard resetting link Jul 21 04:35:10 Tower kernel: ata11: softreset failed (device not ready) Jul 21 04:35:10 Tower kernel: ata11: hard resetting link Jul 21 04:35:10 Tower kernel: ata7: softreset failed (device not ready) Jul 21 04:35:10 Tower kernel: ata7: hard resetting link Jul 21 04:35:10 Tower kernel: ata8: softreset failed (device not ready) Jul 21 04:35:10 Tower kernel: ata8: hard resetting link These controllers usually work great with Unraid, how are the disks powered? It's powered with 3 SATA power connectors (2 of them are using splitters) and a sperate molex power connector. All power connectors are plugged in. Quote
JorgeB Posted July 21, 2021 Posted July 21, 2021 Try connecting some of the disks to the onboard SATA controller, then try again to see if the errors stay with the JMB controller. Quote

EricZhang456 Posted July 22, 2021 Author Posted July 22, 2021 I don't really know actually. I just have this problem randomly and searching doesn't do much. Quote
