Roshill
Hi Guys, I recently built my NAS system and after setting up the 3 - 6tb HDDs in an array and added a 250gb cache to it. The speeds are around 70mbps and lower when I copy a 4gb file over Wifi 6. Just now tested it getting around 50mbps. The PC has a 2.5 Gigabit port connected to my Asus ax11000 router's 2.5 Gigabit port with a Cat 7 Cable. I am not sitting too far from my router just the next room over. My motherboard is a Auros Master x570 board which has a Intel® WiFi 6 802.11ax 2T2R & BT 5. For more features https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/X570-AORUS-MASTER-rev-10#kf So I tried copying files on my system itself I get around 1.1 gbps speeds from moving 1 file from 1 ssd to another. Crucial BX500 240GB 3D NAND SATA 2.5-inch is the installed SSD. Is this too slow? 500mbps Write speed. I am trying to understand when my wifi's link speed is around 1-1.4 Mbps. Why don't I get similar transfer rates. I am no where close. If I was getting around 450 mbps It would've bin fine. Do I need to buy more SSDs and raid 1 them? Do let me know a complete newbie here what else do I need to install on my array. I tried installing the OpenSpeedTest but, for some reason it doesn't work. Thanks any help or advice would be greatly valued. Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
You can use iperf to test lan bandwidth. Quote Link to comment
Roshill
I will definitly look into it tonight. And try to run it. Thanks again =). And if you know what more I could do to get those speed do let me know. I need to install something on Unraid etc. Edited September 24, 2021 by Roshill Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
It's normal for Wi-Fi to not perform as well as people expect, but iperf just tests the network so it will give you an idea of the actual possible speeds. Quote Link to comment
openspeedtest
Why OpenSpeedTest Not worked? Any error message? @Roshill Quote Link to comment
Roshill
Is there something I can do to improve it on a wifi 6 connection or is this the expected speed I will get on my lan? Maybe buy an addtional wifi 6 card that might be better than the internal one?. And should I edit out my IP address from this thread. I was wondering if it had to do with any limitation set by the address or port. Don't have much experience with wifi 6, but with any wifi you'll never get close to the link speed, unlike cable, though I would expect wifi 6 could do better than that. Quote Link to comment

Yeah same I don't understand why it's so low I got everything working perfectly. Even my router shows it's on 2.5Gbps. I will try and reattach the wifi 6 antenna probably didn't insert it right.
