Disk with errors

Disk 8 is seeing errors. Any insights whether the disk is failing or whether there could be some form of cable / connectivity / other error.

I know that developers advice against using USB connected disks in the array, but it has been working for me for quite a while now...

Let's see what more experiences user say, but it does not look good (pending and uncorrectable), also, the Raw Read is super high for a WD drive. You should monitor attribute 1 on WD drives.

On a side note, drive temperature looks pretty high. This drive is at 51°C and already reached a peak value of 63°C :/.

I looked a other drives at random and saw 64°C current temp and up to 71°C peaks. Might not be related to your issue, but I would not be comfortable with that. I would suggest that you improve cooling of your drives.

Disk has pending sectors and failed the SMART tests, needs to be replaced.

Thanks for your replies. Will replace the drive.

What concern do you have about the temperatures of the devices? Does it hurt to run them rather hot?

Yes, you should keep disks under 40C, 45C tops, though not always possible if the disk is inside a USB case, but still not good for long term health.
