All data on HDD array gone

Featured Replies

Hi

I logged in to my Unraid server today and I've noticed that most of the data on my HDD array is gone.
I've checked the logs, shell history, ... but I don't see anything suspicious...

Don't see any drive erorrs

Attach you can find the diagnostics.

Kind regards

Not really, my unraid server is not directly exposed to the internet either.

as mentioned in the OP, not all the data is gone, certain items are still there but 99% is gone.

What was the last things you did on the server prior to noticing this?

Nothing really that should have caused this.

These I mainly log on to update containers and add new items to sonarr and radarr but that’s about it

Few days back I noticed that my windows VM was in a startup loop after updating but I don’t think this can be related.

This has happened to me 3 times already

Are you the only person with access?...what about familiy or guests?

Do you do backups? Check them for integritiy...also how do you do that and make sure you actually do backups and that you don't just move the data (delete after backup) - some backup apps do have that kind of feature...but I am just guessing here.

according to your other thread, this concerned your USB stick, not Array data

I purchased a new Samsung USB thinking that could be the problem before this last

install thinking the usb was getting to old. Before this all happened I was running for

at least 5 years without a problem.

Only I have the access to make any changes and I only use the server for Plex, sonar, and radarr along with sabnzb. I do have family only using Plex.

What are the SMB security settings of your flash drive?

as said in your other thread, maybe this / these were fake USB sticks.

I only by them from a reputable source and for unraid only these models: https://shop.westerndigital.com/products/usb-flash-drives/sandisk-cruzer-fit-usb-2-0#SDCZ33-016G-A46

I am not convinced that your problem with a wiped unraid Stick is the same as that from the OP, as here we are clearly taking about data from the array.

I believe I had the SMB  set on private.

I will definitely purchase a new stick
