[SOLVED] No listing: Too many files leading to Unmount and run xfs_repair

Featured Replies

After replacing some drives (in order to add more capacity to the server) I found that when I clicked on the server share in the Unraid GUI, I saw the error: No listing: Too many files.

Looking at the log, I found: "Nov 19 08:44:29 Goliath2 kernel: XFS (md18): Unmount and run xfs_repair"

But there may be still other issues contributing to the problem I am having!

Is there a way to fix this without losing data? Although frustrating, on the upside, this is a backup server.

First thing is to run xfs_repair.

Done! Here are the result of the scan with repair and then again after the repair.

Looked kinda messy. Have you checked your lost+found share?

Should be fixed.

I still see this in the share:

"No listing: Too many files"

Here is the new log.

There are a bunch of files in the 'lost&found' folder now.

There's also fs corruption on disk21.

Fixed that drive and everything loads! I guess I have to figure out what files went into the 'Lost & Found' now.

I am not understanding something. Does having a parity drive help recover data in this situation or does the data get corrupted on the parity drives as well?

  • Community Expert

Parity will usually be in sync with the corrupt data.

Parity has not knowledge of files, file systems, good or bad data.

If a bit changes on a data drive, the parity drive(s) is updated.

If a bit change causes the file system or a file to be corrupted, the parity system has no way to know that.
