Any recommendations on a good VM BACKUP app I could use? I tried VM BACKUP but it fails all the time with errors.

I use the URBackup container to back up my desktops and VM's. Works great.

 

In my opinion it's much better to use a client app inside the VM that can work with the OS and deal with locked files and shadow copies or whatever the VM OS is using in a predictable manner while the OS is running than to try to back up the vdisk file and deal with shutting down the VM or dealing with a backup taken while the vdisk is live and in flux.

I may have to do this differently. I don't have sound at all with VMs in Unraid for some reason..

How are you accessing them?

I tried from the WebUI.. Didn't try to install VNC on the VM yet so perhaps that is the issue?

Install nomachine in the VM and your desktop and use that to access the VM.

VNC doesn't support audio.

There's two templates... what's the difference there?

we are developing a simple backup and restore solution for VMs in UNRAID.

 

Right now it is available as free alpha-version, enabling backups of one VM.
