Using rsync with Unraid Server

Featured Replies

Whats the best way to use Rsync (http://rsync.samba.org/) with Unraid Server?   Can it be installed on the USB stick? Or do i have to install it on another computer?   I have never used it before and my boss wants me to find all i can about setting it up.  Thanks for any info on this.  I will be using rsync to back up files across a Novell Network to my UnRaid Server.

Time to revive this old thread - has anyone gotten rsync for Unraid?  It would be really handy for the copying I'm doing right now.

Just finished up a document describing how to install and use rsync.  Caution: knowlege of linux highly recommended.

Are you psychic, or did you build that just for me?  Either way, thanks!

Have you considered splitting the go script into "standard Unraid go script" followed by "go script customization"?  It would be cool to be able to upgrade to new versions without having to rewrite those scripts.

I think rsync and ssh should be on unraid by default.

I really hate using telnet.

Also with ssh, you can also do sshfs. But I would be happy just to have rsync and unraid in there my default.

Limetech, the link to the package download is broken. Can you send us an updated link?

Unless you are running a really really old version of unRAID, rsync is included with unRAID, and is now used by the mover script.  That web page is very old, from the days of v3.0, so ignore the package.  The tips there are good though.
