xxjt2oxx
Hey Guys, Been reading about this for a bit but wanted to ask about my specific case - I have a Barracuda 8TB drive with 65 hours on it - I did a preclear and then added it to the array, which went smoothly. I'm writing to the drive for the first time, and at shortly after starting the transfer the reallocated sector count reported at 8. It didn't seem alarming after I read a few articles, so I acknowledged it and let the transfer continue. About 900GB in I checked in on the server and now the reallocated sector count is at 96. I stopped the transfer, but I don't know if I should replace the drive before running in to a real issue. Since this is a brand new drive, should I try to RMA it? Is it something I need to worry about? I've never done a full SMART test on it - would this give a better understanding of what's happening? Thanks! Quote Link to comment

xxjt2oxx
Just to close the loop on this - I reached out to Seagate, they gave me a bit of run around and ended up suggesting that I just return it and buy a new one. Quote Link to comment
