Preclear speed dependent on number of drives?

It could just be impatience - the new case finally arrived today - but has anyone noticed preclears seem to take longer with more drives? Currently preclearing 5 2TB drives attached directly to my new E350 board. 3 Hitachi 7200, one 5400 and a WD EARS. MB/s numbers look about normal but the post-read is crawling.

 

My previous experience is with dual-core Athlons, and 3 drives was the most I precleared at the same time. As I recall the 25hr guestimate was pretty close. Maybe this stage is more cpu-intensive for this little E350, or I have one or more angry drives?

    More drives does slow the process down. They all share the same system bus.
