April 26, 201115 yr Following Rajahal build got a Corsair CX430 PS and a BIOSTAR A760G M2+ board but the power supply doesn't have that 4-pin ATX power thats on the board, do I need something or an adapter to plug in there to power the cpu? Help! Thanks
April 26, 201115 yr ...the power supply doesn't have that 4-pin ATX power thats on the board It must have! Perhaps it's an 8-pin connector which splits?
April 26, 201115 yr This is "almost" identical to my build. Same mobo but with a CX500 psu. Just split the 8-pin connector for your mobo's cpu power and you'll be good.
April 26, 201115 yr I have built that exact one for a friend. The 8pin splits in half. Its just snaped together. http://www.corsair.com/power-supplies/non-modular-psus/builder-series/builder-series-cx430.html Under FAQs and Support Where’s the 4-pin EPS/ATX 12v connector that I need for my motherboard? Our power supplies ship with an 8-pin connector that splits in half. Use half of this connector for the 4-pin EPS/ATX 12v connector on your motherboard
April 26, 201115 yr Author Found it, how obscure, its actually an adapter you have to plug into one of the wires coming out of the power supply. Wtf? Thanks
April 27, 201115 yr Adapter? Mine was built into the wireing harness I just took a picture since I well just got home. It used to be a 8pin, but it splits in half when you pry them apart. Mine is pulled apart like that because its been sitting in a machine for the last 2months. LOL
April 27, 201115 yr Author Crap I must have missed that, is it ok if I leave the adapter plugged in and just use that? It came in a little bag and say I4 or P4 on the cap?
April 27, 201115 yr Personally and I do mean this personally. I would keep it as simple as possible with the least amount of physical connections that could possibly fail. In English LOL I would say if you don't need an adapter I wouldn't use it.
