Uncle09
Hi to all, actually I do have a Dell T7910 with 2 E5-2697V3 running, nice machine. However, the power consuption is even in idle arround 200 Watts, with Graphic Card and HDDs. I never used more then about 30% CPU Power. So my idea is, bring a new system up with less power consuption, but still enough performance as data-center with lets say 10 HDDs, a lot of Docker und 2 or 3 VMs running - even as gaming pc. My Idea is to build it in an case like Nanoxia Deep Silence 6 or the Intertech 4U 4416 - still do not know which to prefer 🙂 As far as I learned already, the CPU choice is restricted to Intel- 5th to 10th generation, if yo like to have GVT-g working, etc. So: 1. I am looking for the best CPU with: - integrated iGPU for the VMs - ECC-RAM support, if possible - VT-x / VT-d support - max core/threads possible with the points before - max PCI Lanes possible (to use Bifurcation) - best speed I do have in my old gaming PC an i9-9900K CPU. Is that a good one for that ? 2. the best board with (size does not matter - up to eatx): - ECC-RAM support, if possible - at least 4 memory slots (prefered - PCIe Bifurcation working - max of PCIe Slots possible (up to 6 ?) - DDR4 usage - a lot of SATA or HBA-SAS controller (if possible) - onboard grafic Thanks for our help and ideas best regards Uncle Quote Link to comment
Uncle09
No one ? I thought about an Xeon-2388G. Is this the best Multi Core CPU with ECC and IGPU ? Quote Link to comment
casperse
Yes I have been looking at the same CPU! - Intel Xeon E-2388G @ 3.20GHz I currently have the older Intel’s Xeon E-2176G (CPU benchmark 13643 - TDP80W) and I have been very happy with it But I need more CPU power , More PCI lanes and much more RAM (Threadripper is nice if you can pay the electrical bills :-) But I cant find any nice motherboard for this CPU? And the PCI lanes is only 20 So I am now looking at the EPYC CPU's.... CPU benchmark 32480 - (155W) AMD EPYC 7302P but again where to find a nice motherboard and also what about compatibility EPYC is not tested with graphic cards in these motherboards... Maybe this MB: https://gigapro.dk/p/asrock-rack-romed8-2t Have you found your new CPU? Edited April 9, 2022 by casperse Quote Link to comment
