Robbaz
Built my first Unraid Server without much of a hassle about two months ago. Version: 6.9.2 Unraid Rig: 2700x / 16gb Ram / B550 Tomahawk 2.5gbit / 8x Exos 18x "18tb" Sata Drives / LSI SAS2308 IT Mode Switch: TRENDnet TEG-S350 2.5gbit NAS: 4x Exos 16x Raid 10 2.5gbit PC: 3950x / 64gb Ram / Asus Master x570 2.5gbit / 960 Evo 1TB But the Reads has been about half the speed of writes. I easily Write at 250-280mbytes to the Unraid but only read about 120-140mbytes from it. That while copying to and from a Nvme scratch disk. NAS on the same network dosen't have the same issue copying and reading to it and get full network speeds. Also tried switching the cables between the NAS and the Unraid without any improvements. Everything is hooked up with 2,5gbit. MTU is 5000 on Unraid, NAS and PC. The Unraid is filled with MKV's ranging from 2-150GB's and there is about 65TB of video on it. Two of the Exos are Parity Drives. It's one big SMB Share. Any clue on were to start troubleshooting? Or is this expected performance? bigusdickus-diagnostics-20220411-0226.zip Edited April 11, 2022 by Robbaz Added Diagnostics Quote Link to comment
Solution JorgeB Posted April 11, 2022 Solution Share Posted April 11, 2022 Run a single stream iperf test in both directions to see if it's network related. Quote Link to comment
Robbaz
First time using Iperf and it definitely seem network related. Iperf speeds match my transfer speeds. What could cause it? Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Most likely NIC or NIC driver related, Realtek driver support has never been great with Linux. Quote Link to comment
Robbaz
Updated Bios, redid dhcp stuff, turned off bonding and bridging. Something fixed it, network is maxing out on both read and write. Reading/Moving files from Unraid at 190-210mbytes now, acceptable and fast enough for ffmpeg. 1 Quote Link to comment
