LivingOffgridInAZ
I have a 256GB nvme cache drive that reaches 100% and never moves the data to the array. What are the common reasons for this? steps to troubleshoot? cheers. Quote Link to comment
AndrewZ
Can you post your diagnostics and indicate what the shares involved are. The most common problem would be a misunderstanding of how the use cache setting works for the shares. Quote Link to comment

LivingOffgridInAZ
We have a windows VM running acronis to backup other servers and workstations. should we not use a cache drive for this purpose? The VM has a 60TB volume for storing data. The VM is unresponsive due to the cache drive reaching 100% and not moving the data to the array. As you've stated, I suspect this is just a misunderstanding of cache drives and the settings. Quote Link to comment

Read the cache : prefer section of the help, see if that explains things better. If it doesn't, please ask for clarification. Quote Link to comment
itimpi
The only share you have set to move files to the array automatically is the ‘isos’ one (use Cache=Yes) and it already has all of its files on the array. All the others are set to Use Cache=Prefer which indicates you want those files kept on the cache pool if at all possible. You have also not set a Minimum Free Space value for the pool, so that when the free space falls below this value Unraid starts writing new files for shares with either a Yes or Prefer for Use Cache setting directly to the array bypassing the cache pool. Not having that set allowed the cache pool to completely fill up. Quote Link to comment
