July 12, 20223 yr Community Expert After updating a few weeks ago, some strange new messages appeared in the syslog almost every hour now. Jul 12 09:47:01 F atd[4782]: PAM unable to dlopen(/lib64/security/pam_unix.so): /lib64/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.34' not found (required by /lib64/libresolv.so.2) Jul 12 09:47:01 F atd[4782]: PAM adding faulty module: /lib64/security/pam_unix.so Jul 12 09:47:01 F atd[4782]: Module is unknown Jul 12 09:56:03 F smbd[304]: [2022/07/12 09:56:03.120943, 0] ../../lib/util/charset/codepoints.c:16655(get_conv_handle) Jul 12 09:56:03 F smbd[304]: dos charset 'CP850' unavailable - using ASCII Jul 12 09:56:03 F smbd[304]: [2022/07/12 09:56:03.151331, 0] ../../lib/util/charset/codepoints.c:16655(get_conv_handle) Jul 12 09:56:03 F smbd[304]: dos charset 'CP850' unavailable - using ASCII Jul 12 09:58:04 F emhttpd: spinning down /dev/sde The first thing is the obviously missing GLIBC_2.34 needed for pam_unx.so, I guess its needed for smp authentication? Looks like somebody has messed up the dependencies? The even more annoying messages are about missing CP850 codepage, they occur for every file that is accessed throug samba. They fill up the logs quite rapidly. So how can I (re)add a dos codepage? I have no idea where they came from and even less ideas how to get rid of them.

July 12, 20223 yr Community Expert Looks like you need to install UD preclear: https://forums.unraid.net/topic/125918-log-pam-unable-to-dlopen/?do=findComment&comment=1147493
July 12, 20223 yr Reboot. Installing UD Preclear and then removing it will not clear up the issue until you reboot.
July 12, 20223 yr Author Community Expert ok, I did what you told me. For now the messages are gone again (I installed that preclear and rebooted) Let see if it stays this way overnight or so... But, if there are such "unknown to the public" issues, they should be announced somewhere I think...
July 12, 20223 yr Community Expert I believe this only happens if you«re using some app/plugin that requires an updated glibc, i.e., it doesn't happen with stock Unraid.
